“Blessed are the peacemakers”… Should Catholics Shun Hong Kong Protests ?

While our site statistics show we have fairly regular visits from both China and Hong Kong, it strikes me that we’ve never discussed the current volatile situation in Hong Kong.  While the news media in the UK restricts itself to reporting, narrowly, on “the protests”, a quick Google search reveals that Catholics are actively participating in this action.

Are they right to do so, albeit that they are calling for a peaceful solution?  Is participating in the street protests an appropriate way to achieve this aim?  Watching police in riot gear, ready for physical battle, brings to mind Christ’s teaching that “peacemakers” are blessed by God.  Are the Catholics of Hong Kong failing to heed Christ’s exhortation – or are they right to participate, actively, in the protests?  Is there another, better way, to achieve a peaceful solution?

Muslim, Not Catholic, Parents Fight LGBT Indoctrination in Schools…

Sky News broadcast a segment on the “culture clash” in UK classrooms this morning, focusing on
the fact that the protest against the sympathetic portrayal of LGBT issues/same-sex “families” which began in Birmingham has now spread across England. Click here to read the Sky News report, and see small video clips.

These good Muslim parents can expect no help from Catholics, sadly, because, according to a report emailed to Catholic Truth by one of our watchful readers south  of the border, the Bishops of England (with one exception) have welcomed the Government’s shocking new sex-education law which sees parental rights as the prime educators of their children over-ruled by Head Teachers.  Click here to read all about this disgraceful partnership with LGBT activists into which the Bishops have effectively entered.

We know that not all parents are in a position to home-school – that’s understandable.  However, what possible excuse can any Catholic parent offer for standing on the sidelines as these ever new and ever worsening laws are passed which are clearly aimed at brainwashing children with the LGBT message that sexuality has nothing to do with morality, that the natural  moral law applies only to theft and killing, not to sexual activity – how can any Catholic parent sit back and allow their children to be told that families can be made up of two mummies and/or two daddies, and that God really doesn’t care as long as everybody is happy and “loves” everybody else.

Apart from home-schooling, what can parents actually DO – should they be standing shoulder-to-shoulder beside the Muslim parents outside of schools and if not, why not.  And if not what SHOULD they be doing, because, clearly, they should be doing something to stop this brainwashing of innocent primary school children, which is effectively grooming them for a lifetime of what the Catechism of the Catholic Church describes as “acts of grave depravity”  adding that “Under no circumstances can they be approved.” (# 2357)

What right-minded parent, then, stands by while their children are being taught that “acts of grave depravity” can be approved, and more, that these acts of depravity must be tolerated and respected?

For centuries, Catholic children were taught the general Christian rule of treating our neighbour as we would each wish to be treated ourselves. That “golden rule” applies to every person in creation no matter how badly they may behave.  We treat everyone with courtesy and respect, as human beings; but that does not, emphatically, mean that we may approve their behaviour. We can easily see that with regard to criminal behaviour, but it applies, also, to all behaviour which offends God, whether or not it is breaking a human or national law.  So, to repeat – what possible excuse can any Catholic parent offer to excuse their silence on the LGBT dominance in schools?

Congratulations to the informed Muslim parents for taking counter-cultural action to protect their children.  But “congratulations” is not a sentiment that we may legitimately offer to Catholic parents today who are, in the main, going along with every immorality in the book.  So, what message SHOULD we sent to Catholic parents right now?  Printable suggestions only, please and thank you!

US President’s UK Visit: Scotland’s Shameful Treatment of Donald Trump

Today’s news broadcasts are dominated by reports and commentary on Donald Trump’s visit to the UK.  He’s just arrived and seems to be making most of his journeys within the UK by air, to avoid the nasty protests being staged all over the place. Group-think means that Trump is universally hated here, with loud-mouths peddling the propaganda that he is a racist, misogynistic, you-name-it, who earlier today “ranted” at the Nato Summit.  Never mind that we saw his demeanour, heard his words at the Nato Summit and it was not remotely an angry rant. It was a measured, if outspoken, address to those sitting with him at table and the only  question of any importance is the one NOT addressed by the media hacks:  was he telling the truth?  Of course he was. America is paying much more than any other Nato member and he was doing what none of his predecessors had the bottle to do, calling it out.

One other feature of today’s discussions is also utterly dishonest. The cost of policing the President’s visit has been rolled out over and over again to attack the decision to invite him in the first place. Never mind that the cost of policing is due to the insistence of the thousands of “peaceful protesters” (let’s review that after the event) who lack respect for the choice of the American people to elect their own President, and never mind, too that we are paying for unnecessary policing at all sorts of events week in and week out, with not a peep of protest from anyone.

For example, here in Glasgow, there are marches and “charity” runs regularly, if not every week through the city centre on Sundays; one of our readers used to board a bus to go into town to Mass but she never knew which church she would end up attending, all depending on the route for this week’s march, demonstration, “charity” run, whatever.   Then, too, there are the regular Orange Parades and the “Gay Pride” marches – how much do all of these events cost to police?

So, enough of the bigotry and anti-Trump prejudice currently engulfing the UK, including Scotland, about which the President speaks so warmly.  Makes me ashamed to be a Scot, watching and listening to the nastiness being hurled his way.

Trump haters want him to stop undermining their work in murdering unborn babies; they want him to stop enforcing the law against illegal immigration.  In short, they want him to follow Scotland/UK’s lead in being a “modern, socially progressive, democratic nation.”   The first time I heard the word “progressive” it was an adjective to “cancer”.  The connection is still apt.

We, at Catholic Truth, welcome President Trump to Scotland, not least because Our Lord warns us of the price we risk paying at our Judgment if we don’t: “I was a stranger, and you did not make me welcome…” Matthew 25:45-46

Defend Donald – Sign Counter-Petition

MORE than 1.6 million Britons have signed a petition calling for Donald Trump’s state visit to be cancelled. But will it stop the new US President coming to the UK?  Click here to read more

There’s now a counter petition – I’ve signed it and hope you will, too.  Click here to sign or click on the image to reach the petition…

The media in the UK is 100% agin Donald Trump.  The hatred of him coming from TV news broadcasts is palpable.

But why?  IS it because he is seeking to improve security by imposing temporary restrictions – his spokesperson insists there is no “ban” and only a very small number of people have been detained as part of an attempt to review security. So, what’s really going on here?
