Glasgow Pride: Priest Under Fire For Prayer of Reparation – Bravo, Father!

Below, report in Evening Times, dated 17 July, 2018, with Catholic Truth editorial comment in blue, italicised throughout.

Fr Mark Morris

A CATHOLIC chaplain of a Glasgow university has held a service to atone for the “gross offence” of Pride Glasgow.
Ed: well, thanks be to God that there was at least one act of reparation for this “pride in our sin” parade through our city, in flat contradiction to the city motto which is “Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of Thy word and the praising of Thy name.”

Father Mark Morris, of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, last night invited parishioners to a rosary of reparation.
Ed: bravo, Father!

According the Balornock church’s website, the service was a “Rosary of reparation for the gross offence to God which is Pride Glasgow.”
Ed: bravo, Father!

Saturday’s Pride march was led by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who called the event “celebrating and reaffirming the values of tolerance, diversity, equality, love and respect.”
Ed: there should never be any celebration and reaffirming of sin, especially in a city bearing a motto of dedication to  Christ: “Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of Thy word and the praising of Thy name.”

But last night Father Morris, who is the Catholic chaplain of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), held a service offering decades of the Rosary, Litany and Benediction in reparation for the LGBTQI+ event.
Edthus providing an opportunity for all concerned to affirm their stated devotion to the “values of tolerance, diversity, blah blah…”

Jordan Daly, Co-Founder of Time for Inclusive Education (TIE), which campaigns for inclusive education in schools, said it was “sad and disappointing” to see Father Morris’s “condemnation” of the event.
Ed: why on earth is it “sad and disappointing” to see a priest upholding Catholic moral teaching?  Would you prefer that he lacked integrity and praised what any Catholic worthy of the name knows to be a grave offence against God – objectively, a sin deadly to the soul? I thought the whole idea was that in our “inclusive” society we can “celebrate” and “tolerate” ALL views, beliefs blah blah?  Yeah, right.

He said: “The Pride parade was, as always, a vibrant and colourful display of diversity, acceptance, and inclusivity.
Ed:  not in my experience.  These “pride” parades comprise a procession of half-naked people, cavorting and being sexually provocative in their behaviour. Not nice, to put it mildly. If that’s “a display of diversity blah blah” you can keep it.

“The ethos of the parade is equality and love, so it is sad and disappointing to see that Father Morris has countered those fundamental values by holding this service and allowing a narrative of exclusion and condemnation to enter the mainstream as a result.”
Ed:  superficial junk-think. These terms are flung around without any definitions being offered.  Equal to whom?  What KIND of “love”?  The LGBT etc agenda is dominating the conversation and we are not allowed to ask these questions. Let anyone call this sin a sin, and pray in reparation, as Fr Morris has done (to his eternal credit), and he is accused of conducting a “narrative of exclusion and condemnation”.  From junk-think to  junk-speak.

Father Morris celebrates Mass on Thursdays in the Faith and Belief Centre in the university’s William Harley Building, and hears confession.
A spokesman for the Catholic Church in Glasgow said: “This was a private parish devotion unrelated to Father Morris’s role as chaplain.”
Ed what a dereliction of duty.  How DARE this “spokesman” for the Catholic Church in Glasgow, whoever he is, fail to point out that Father is doing no more than his duty as a Catholic priest in praying for and making reparation for serious sin. And, furthermore, that he is always a priest, whether in his parish or in a university or any other place where he is appointed to BE a priest for the people in that place.  Just WHO is this spokesman?  Ronnie Convery?  Doesn’t he know that the Archbishop of Glasgow, when he was appointed to the Diocese of Paisley, condemned the LGBT etc lobby outright and urged us all to be prepared to go to prison rather than remain silent or support this evil?  Has Mr Convery forgotten this wee detail? How typically convenient.

A spokesman for the university said GCU is fully inclusive.
Ed: well, what’s the problem?  Why are you so annoyed at Fr Morris, or does “inclusivity” just mean you include LGBT etc people and their supporters?  Nobody else is “included” in your “inclusivity”?

He said: “The university is strongly inclusive.
Ed:  You’ve still not explained what this means – IS Fr Morris included in this “inclusivity” or not?

“We respect and promote equality and diversity.
Ed: no you don’t. Otherwise you would respect Fr Morris’s right to hold any kind of prayer event he wishes, in his own parish.

“This includes an official presence at the last two Pride Glasgow events.”
Ed:  it’s the norm, now,  to be politically correct, toeing the LGBT etc propaganda line, to go with the flow. Few challenge it. Group-think rules. To quote G. K. Chesterton A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.

But Jordan added: “We are concerned about the message that this could send to the young people of Glasgow Caledonian University, and so would like to stress that these predictable voices of opposition are becoming increasingly drowned out by a Catholic and wider faith community which is supportive of LGBT equality.
Ed:  Jordan’s “concern” doesn’t say much about two things; firstly, the quality of students at Glasgow Caledonian University, who apparently can’t be exposed to any thinking person who goes against the establishment/popular view in society, and secondly, the Catholic community which, if it is “supportive of LGBT etc equality” is about as Catholic as the nearest Church of Scotland congregation.  There were Catholics like those at the time of the Reformation. They were called Protestants then, and that is what they are now – protesting the teaching of the Catholic Church, in this case, on sexual morality.

“There were many people of faith who attended the Parade this weekend and in our efforts to advance LGBT-inclusive education in schools, we have been strongly supported by numerous Catholic Priests and their parishioners, as well as Church of Scotland and Scottish Episcopal Church ministers.
Ed:  that is utterly scandalous.  Faithful Catholics have a right to know the names of priests who “strongly support” LGBT etc education in schools. Their hypocrisy and duplicity must be exposed. They are living a lie, and stealing from parishioners who are donating to parish funds in the belief that their priests at least believe the doctrines of the Faith in their entirety.

“Our experience working with the Scottish Catholic Education Service as part of the Scottish Government’s LGBT Inclusive Education Working Group has also been nothing but positive and productive.
Ed: again, that is scandalous, but we have known this for a while, thanks to the SCES openly boasting about the “safe spaces” they are making available for “gay” pupils in Catholic schools.

“We know that those who support the LGBT community outweigh those who endorse intolerance and I imagine that the number of attendees to this service in contrast with those who attended the Pride parade would further prove that.”
Ed: now, you do have a point there. Thanks to the loss of divine and Catholic Faith within the Scottish hierarchy, which has trickled down to the majority of the clergy, there are now so few Catholics left in Glasgow that there are plans afoot to close and merge umpteen formerly thriving parish churches.  One day, however, these bishops and priests will be called to account for their negligence, for allowing themselves to be so seduced by worldliness that they actually fell into apostasy.  What a price, then, to pay.

NUS Scotland’s LGBT+ Officer Kai O’Doherty added: “NUS Scotland is proud to be at the forefront of breaking down barriers facing LGBT+ people.
Ed: now there’s an original mantra…

“Universities should be a place where every student, regardless of religion, sexuality, or identity, feels accepted and supported to study without fear of discrimination.
Ed: even students who disapprove of same-sex activity?  Really?  I’ve heard stories galore of students being harassed and insulted for just expressing a contrary view on social media. In one case, the student had to take flight to Spain to complete her studies! No, tolerance really isn’t a hallmark of this whole LGBT etc juggernaut.

“Everybody within our university communities has a duty to ensure that campuses are compatible with the accepting and progressive culture that they strive to achieve.
“We’re proud of the progress that has been made, but every day we are reminded of how far we still have to go to achieve a truly inclusive society.”
Ed: more junk-think but note:  anyone who is not in favour of the “progressive culture” (where every sin and then some is acceptable and promoted) is not given a place on the “inclusivity” bandwagon.

Following Ms Sturgeon’s involvement in Pride, a Scottish Government spokesman said: “Scotland is considered to be one of the most progressive countries in Europe regarding LGBTI equality, and Pride Glasgow is a fantastic event that brings communities together and celebrates all that LGBTI people contribute to Scottish life.

“As a society we must champion equality and fairness at all times and defend the progress that has been made.”
Ed Hmmmm. Doesn’t quite tie in with the city motto, does it:  “Let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of Thy word and the praising of Thy name.”

Evil in Vatican: “Disorientation, Chaos & Scandal Marks Francis’ Pontificate”

Pope Francis

VATICAN, May 2, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — A Vatican conference has wrapped up featuring controversial pop-star Katy Perry speaking on transcendental meditation, disgraced Lettergate monsignor Dario Viganò delivering a talk on “Fake News,” and a “meditating eye” charm bangle given as a gift to select participants…

On day three of the Vatican conference, Perry joined a discussion on “Impacting Children’s Health Through Meditation Globally” with her mentor, Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation. Roth is also the mentor to Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Oz on Transcendental Meditation…

“For Katy Perry to speak about Transcendental Meditation from the same seat used by the Pope during major Church meetings is symbolic of the chaos, disorientation and scandal that marks this pontificate,” a source close to the Vatican told LifeSiteNews. “It would be one thing to have her presence moderated by a Church leader, but to have the podium given over to celebrity TM proponents with no Church voice to counter them is unconscionable.”

The source added: “It’s tragically emblematic of today’s culture: when the Church chooses to be absent, the world steps in to fill the vacuum.” [emphasis added]

Comment:

Laughably, Lifesitenews adds:  An official in the Pontifical Council for Culture told LifeSitenews the plan was for the guests promoting transcendental meditation to be able to air their ideas which would then be “robustly challenged” — an exercise, he said, that would educate Catholic participants attending the Conference about the nature of some of the current challenges to the Faith in healthcare settings.”

Like, er, who would know how to begin to challenge these New Age ideas when Catholics have been encouraged to involve themselves in them for years now. Adverts for Yoga classes are not uncommon on parish notice boards, and Catholic schools don’t teach the most basic doctrine, let alone the niceties of occultism. No surprise then, that the report continues… Drum roll….

Despite these aims, the ideas were not robustly challenged during or after the panel discussion.

Now, there’s a surprise – not!

Video Confirms BBC Scotland Bigotry – But Bishop Keenan Misses The Point…

From the  Catholic Herald – BBC Scotland video says Holy Communion ‘smells like hate’
Bishop John Keenan of Paisley criticised the video for encouraging anti-Catholic prejudice

The Bishop of Paisley has criticised BBC Scotland after a video said Holy Communion “tastes like cardboard and smells like hate”.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of BBC The Social, a project aimed at young adults and managed by BBC Scotland, under the title “This is how homophobia feels in 2018”.

Holy Communion
“tastes like cardboard and smells like hate” – blasphemy, BBC Scotland video…

At one point it depicts a priest holding a Mini Cheddar in a parody of the Host, and giving it to a woman who makes the sign of the cross. The narrator says Jesus “saved a lot of time when he died for our crimes, that he would’ve wasted teaching small minds that love is no sin”.

He then looks at a street preacher, saying: “See him, he thinks it’s faith.” The video then cuts back to the women who received Communion and continues: “But under all that din, it tastes like cardboard and smells like hate”.

Bishop John Keenan of Paisley told the Catholic Herald that the video was “offensive to Catholics in both the words and images used”.

He said that while there is always room for debate, the video is “not fair comment”. “It is ridiculing and demeaning the faith of ordinary Catholics,” he said, “especially at a time when Catholics are experiencing more and more abuse and prejudice in Scotland.”

“The BBC has to be careful,” he added. “It has to ask itself if it has ceased to be a broadcaster in the public interest, and is just promoting particular interests.

“You cannot imagine it treating any other religion like this.”

The Archdiocese of St Andrew’s and Edinburgh also criticised the video’s suggestion that orthodox Christianity, including Catholicism, encourages public hatred of gay people.

“The Catechism of the Catholic Church, states that: ‘They [homosexual persons] must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided’,” the archdiocese said.

Last month, a report for the Scottish government found that Catholics are the victims of 57 per cent of all religiously aggravated hate crimes reported in the country. Elaine Smith, a Labour member of the Scottish Parliament, noted that this is also an increasing trend.

She called on the SNP government to “go out to the Catholic population and listen to their concerns”. She quoted Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow, who said: “Our problem is not so much sectarianism but anti-Catholicism.”   Source

Catholic Truth Editorial Comment:

The video under discussion is filthy claptrap. It is, by definition, an assault on normality – which homosexual activity, is not. Normal, I mean.  Two people of the same sex engaging in pseudo-sexual activity is now commonplace, but it will never EVER be normal.  Click here to read more.

Yet, instead of objecting to the assumption that sodomy (now renamed “homosexuality” or “being gay” because, well,  who would vote to legalise sodomy?)  is normal and acceptable, we get Bishop Keenan in “gentle disapproval” mode – not of homosexual activity, Heaven forfend, but (of course, rightly disapproving) of the insulting, blasphemous images and words about a central tenet of Catholicism, the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  It’s right, of course, to object to that disgraceful attack on Our Lord, and our holy religion, but he should not have missed the opportunity to challenge the homosexual stranglehold on free speech.  They can say what they like, as insultingly as they like, but the rest of us, not so much…

The LGBT etc Brigade have been hugely successful in shutting down any questioning of their pseudo-sexual activity.  But,  before I’m charged with a “hate-crime” let me be absolutely crystal clear: I do not hate anyone, not bank robbers, not burglars, not mass murderers, not homosexuals, nobody.  I merely disagree profoundly with what they do and I will never EVER allow myself to be blackmailed into silent complicity by the threat of being labelled “homophobic” .  If disapproving of unnatural pseudo-sexual activity is “homophobic” (lit. fear of men!) then, call me “homophobic” – and proud of it.

Bishop Keenan of Paisley, and the Archbishop (Philip Tartaglia) of Glasgow, both quoted in the Catholic Herald report, should have said the above, instead of leaving it to a small group of Catholic lay people to speak out against the moral evils of our day.  My message to them: stop mincing your words, if you will excuse the pun.

Yes, this video is an evil attack on our Faith, manifestly anti-Catholic, yes it is encouraging the anti-Catholic prejudice which is a matter of public record in Scotland today, but, just as important is the fact that this video  promotes the lie that we are all bound to accept, without question, the New Morality in Scotland, no matter that our Catholic consciences dictate otherwise.  That needs to be called out for the tyranny that it is, using words of one syllable.  Quoting the Catechism on the need to respect people with same-sex attraction doesn’t quite cut it. They don’t want “respect”; they want acceptance.  They want the Church to condone their behaviour. Won’t happen. Bishops need to spell that out at every opportunity.  Otherwise, we can expect more of the same, and this video, believe me, is not something of which we want to see more…

Now, click here if you choose to watch the actual video which is disgraceful in the extreme.  It ends with a disgusting (let me repeat, disgusting) homosexual kiss. Urghhh!  Pray a Hail Mary for the grace to be unaffected by the film, for your purity to be protected.

For the record, whether they like it or not, BBC Scotland is about to receive the link to this thread.  So, share your thoughts  – politely, and in the Catholic spirit of our House Rules – about whether or not such a  video, featuring any other religion, would have seen the light of publication at the BBC. Rhetorical question, of course, but answer it anyway, in the comments below…

Fr Paul Morton: a bad priest who poisons and rots Church (St Catherine of Siena)

A PRIEST from Cambuslang has become the first Catholic representative to support teaching children about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues in school.

Fr Paul Morton encourages LGBT lessons in schools…

Father Paul Morton, of St Bride’s Parish Church, says bullying due a child’s gender identity or sexual orientation should be a “thing of the past”.

The priest has lent his support to the Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) campaign, which was set up by two Glasgow men in a bid to crack down on homophobic abuse in the classroom.  Click here to read Evening Times report Cambuslang priest first Catholic representative to support LGBT education in schools  which headline is a tad stronger in the print edition of the newspaper, to read: Pioneer Catholic priest’s backing for LGBT rights.

Seems like only yesterday we were discussing this same priest’s public support for homosexuality; our call for Bishop Toal to act at that time, went unheeded, and so, taking his lead from the Bishop’s tolerance, he has moved forward from “welcoming” active homosexual couples to his Masses, to seeking to educate children in the same vice.  Click here to read our previous discussion…

Now, having pretended that his only interest was in making people feel welcome, he has moved on to recite the LGBT mantra about “homophobic” and “transgender” bullying.  Some chance.  Heavens above, it’s impossible to say a word – not a single word – to express disapproval of the evil of homosexual activity, without finding yourself plastered over the front page of a tabloid or, in my own case, nominated for the Stonewall Bigot of the Year award, so it’s a joke to suggest that any homosexual or “transgender” person is bullied.

One thing we never actually deal with – one thing never dealt with – when discussing LGBT “rights” is what they actually DO.  What IS it that is so objectionable?  Why is it that we are shocked that any Catholic priest would encourage children to participate in such behaviour as this

The above link to what homosexuals do, is mild.  Anyone who has ever visited a “gay” website, will know that.   Still, it gives a flavour of precisely what it is that this priest, and his Bishop – Joseph Toal – is shamelessly promoting. Or, more accurately, “proudly” promoting.

Challenge From Editor, Catholic Truth, To Father Morton…

I’ve tried phoning Father Morton several times but keep getting a voicemail telling me that he is not available to speak and I can’t leave a message.  You’d almost think he knew that the caller is li’l ole moi…  Poor souls trying to get through with a sick call, if priests like Fr Morton still do such mundane things as attend to the sick, or administer the sacraments to the dying.  Must be a worry, having an LGBT celebrity as your Parish Priest.

Anyway, here’s why I was ringing… I rang to say “Hello, there, Father….Let’s debate St Catherine of Siena’s call for Pope Gregory XI to “rid the Church of bad priests and rulers who poison and rot that garden [the Church]” Some motion to the effect that St Catherine’s description of priests who “poison and rot” the Church applies today, more than ever, including to Fr Morton himself.  I do wish he’d answered his phone.

Not to worry – I’ll email him the link to this thread in the [fond] hope that he takes up the challenge… I’ll also email the link to Bishop Toal, who is gravely responsible before God for this scandal.  He can have a ringside seat at the debate where he might reflect on the contrast between his suspension of Father Matthew Despard for writing a book exposing the  homosexual culture within the Diocese of Motherwell – a fact confirmed by Fr Morton  – while being complicit in Fr Morton’s guilt by  allowing him free rein to encourage homosexual activity, Communion for unrepentant public sinners and now, actively promoting the corruption of school children into the euphemism of “LGBT rights”.

American Bishops Use “Welcome” Excuse To Encourage Sin & Sacrilege

SAN DIEGO, California, October 13, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — Two left-leaning Catholic bishops, along with “married” homosexual partners, celebrated a special Mass for “Families of the LGBT Community” in San Diego last weekend. The event commemorated the 20-year anniversary of a controversial U.S. bishops’ letter on homosexuality that was censured by the Vatican within a year of its release.

Bishop John Dolan, an auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of San Diego, presided over the October 7 mass commemorating the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) letter on homosexuality “Always Our Children.”

The mass, concelebrated with San Diego Archbishop Robert McElroy and 16 other clergy, took place at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, located in the heart of Hillcrest, the historic epicenter of homosexuality in San Diego.

Before the Mass, Dolan said: “This parish falls within the Hillcrest district and there are a number of people in our community here who want to participate in the life of the Church, and we want to make sure they have a welcome home in some fashion here within the Church.”

During his homily, Dolan praised the 1997 letter “Always Our Children” as offering “an outstretched hand” to parents and family members of homosexual Catholics.
“To you parents, there is no denying your own sons and daughters, whatever their walk in life,” he said.

“Married” homosexual partners Kyle and Snapper Escobar-Humphries said they attended the ‘LGBT’ Mass with their 8- and 9-year-old children to teach them about equality.

“It’s important because my kids have two gay dads and I would like for them to understand that this church is open for everybody,” said one of the “dads” to the San Diego Tribune. “I want them to understand how to treat each other equally.”

The USCCB’s letter Always our Children was addressed to Catholic parents  with homosexual children. The letter was criticized by faithful Catholics for its language that originally called the homosexual orientation a “fundamental dimension of one’s personality.”

Less than a year after its release, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) demanded several changes to the text. One change included calling the homosexual orientation “a deep-seated dimension of one’s personality” so as to avoid the inference that if homosexuality is a “fundamental dimension of one’s personality,” it must be God-given and permanent.

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, then bishop of Lincoln, Nebraska, said after the letter’s release that it was “very flawed and defective.” He asserted that it was “founded on bad advice, mistaken theology, erroneous science and skewed sociology.”

He added that the “document carries no weight or authority for Catholics, whom I would advise to ignore or oppose it.”

Ex-homosexual Catholic Joseph Sciambra has said the U.S. bishops should apologize to Catholics who struggle with same-sex attraction for releasing the letter, what he called a “travesty.”

“The text is still shocking for its gross generalizations and unwillingness to even briefly grasp the intrinsic desperation and depravity found in the modern ‘gay’ lifestyle,” he wrote in a 2016 article.

“The document also openly condemns those with same-sex attraction to a lifelong imprisonment within homosexuality,” he added.

Allyson Smith, who attended the event as a member of Ecclesia Militans San Diego, a group of concerned Catholics, called Bishop Dolan’s homily a “total capitulation to the homosexual activist agenda.”

“(There were) no calls for homosexuals to repent and convert included in his homily,” she [said].

The event was attended by various San Diego dignitaries, including Republican Mayor Kevin Faulconer, openly-homosexual California State Assembly member Todd Gloria, San Diego City Commissioner and male transvestite Nicole Murray-Ramirez, Democrat city attorney Mara Elliott, city council member Chris Ward, San Diego Unified School District board member Kevin Beiser, and city of San Diego Human Relations commissioner Bruce Abrams.

Laurence Greenbank, a Catholic who attended the event to pray a rosary for participants, called the LGBT Mass a “staged media event.”

“The ‘LGBT’ Mass was a media event, staged by the diocese. I believe the real story is how the bishop turned the celebration of the Holy Eucharist into a media event, not a place of worship. The whole event seemed to be choreographed, with the TV cameras, the VIPs, including the mayor and city council member, the imported rich gays (at least two of them were from Palm Springs), the Hillcrest elite gay men’s group with the matching T-shirts. There was an enormous amount of money and preparation spent on this event,” he told LifeSiteNews.

“It is absolutely disgusting to see the Holy Eucharist used for political agenda,” he added.

Bishop Toal of Motherwell Must Sack LGBT-Supporting Cambuslang Priest…

A Cambuslang priest’s message that the Catholic Church must redress the harm it has done to gay people has gone viral.  Click here to read more

St Peter Damian, 11th century Bishop, Doctor of the Church, spoke out against the evils of homosexuality in the Church of his time.

Comment

Another priest of the same Diocese of Motherwell remains suspended for his decision to publish a book on the problem of homosexuality within the Catholic Church in Scotland.

There was promise, at the time, of an investigation into the claims made by Fr Despard in his book, but nothing has been done. And now we have a brother priest in the same Diocese openly “welcoming” LGBT people to his parish – without any reference to Catholic moral teaching on the need to repent of such behaviour, but instead, nicely timed, whether by accident or design, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England, with all the news coverage this anniversary affords.

It’s not so long since Fr Morton was under police investigation for sex allegations of which he was eventually cleared.  We are emphatically NOT taking the “no smoke without fire” line – but one would think, would one not, that he would avoid having his name repeatedly associated with sexual matters in the tabloid press… Just a thought.

A priest who makes an announcement that LGBT people have been harmed by the Church in the past and are now welcome, unrepentant, at his Masses, is saying that there is nothing immoral about homosexual activity, that the Church has got it wrong. Click here to read about homosexual activity and decide for yourself if the Church has gotten it wrong…   But, what to do about it?  Well, for one thing, I’d be hot-footing it out of that parish, never to return. Instead, apparently, the parishioners are behind their PP, which is all the more reason why the Bishop, Joseph Toal, MUST act. The people have been malformed to the point where they really do not know whether they are on foot or on horseback, no idea what it means to be a Catholic;  they have not been taught essential truths, such as the nature of the moral law – which comes NOT from “the Church”  i.e. not from any churchmen, but from God.

Fr Morton MUST be sacked because he is effectively  denying the right and duty of the Church to execute its role as Guardian of the Moral Order.  Faith and Morals go hand in hand.  For him to arrogantly assert that the Church is wrong on such a fundamental question as human sexuality, male and female, reveals his own lack of divine and Catholic Faith, for, when the Faith goes, the Morals quickly follow.  No-one can be a fully believing Catholic while rejecting basic morality.  A dozen analogies spring to mind but this comment piece is already too long.  Essentially, we want Fr Morton to resign from parish ministry.  He is openly inviting public sinners to commit sacrilege, and so the Bishop MUST remove him from ministry.  After all, if Fr Despard had to resign for highlighting the very problem which Fr Morton confirms, why should Fr Morton be permitted to continue as Parish Priest, now cast in his new role as the darling of the LGBT “community”?

Please email the Diocese of Motherwell to express your concerns, and to call for the removal of Fr Morton from ministry at ‘chancellor@rcdom.org.uk’

St Peter Damian, pray for us!

Archbishop: If an unmarried teacher became pregnant, might be quite exciting for the children (and he’s not kidding)

Yesterday, the Guardian posted this tawdry little attempt to attack Catholic education.

The author, Peter Wilby, makes no attempt whatsoever to hide his utter contempt for the Church. Although he seems unable to find a viable target for his spite, despite his very best efforts.

Indeed, the interviewee, Archbishop Malcolm McMahon (right) is quoted in the interview as saying:

“You do this for a living, do you? You ask questions based on inaccurate information?”

The evident hauteur is all the more amusing as it appears to completely go over Wilby’s head.

The other thing clear from the interview is that Archbishop McMahon does not put forward any valid arguments, reasons, or explanation against Wilby’s line of questioning. Of course there are excellent answers to his questions, but the Archbishop seems to either be ignorant of them, or above communicating them to a journalist. Of course it would not be beyond the ken of Guardian journalists to edit the interview in a way which shows the worst of what was said, but it is still hugely disappointing that an opportunity to engage with the culture is so obviously missed. Net result? Readers of the Guardian will no doubt be further confirmed in their prejudice, Catholic schools and education are further marginalised and seen as isolationist and in need of “modernising”.

Wilby does his level best to stir the lefty hatred:

though discrimination has long been outlawed, the church hierarchy now feels threatened by an increasingly secular society. They defend their schools fiercely.

Oh were only that the truth Peter!

A new document from the Catholic Education Service (CES) shows just how wrong Wilby is in this regard. The hierarchy is in full capitulation to secular society! It is in full appeasement mode! It is DESPERATE to shed any vestige of Catholic truth and seeks only to be accepted.

This atrocious document actually uses papal tweets as a source whilst completely failing to state Catholic teaching on sexuality in order to provide an appropriate context. Surely the document ought to be empowering Catholic teachers to stick to the Catechism rather than pandering to LGBT as a poor oppressed victim group?

All bullying should be zero tolerance so why do we need to pay special attention to particular minority groups? Why single out sexual orientation over poverty, weight, political or religious views or even how cool any individual is perceived to be? Surely a Catholic approach, emphasis individuality and equal dignity deals with these issues in a catechetical way?

What can possibly motivate this direction if it is not pandering to the PC brigade and signalling a full abandonment of Catholic principles?

Please read the document. I’m furious. It’s Stonewall propaganda with a Catholic label on it. It is utter tripe.

Most essentially, I feel that our hierarchy don’t really believe what they stand for. They almost seem shocked when we, the laity, hold to Christ’s teachings or express concern at their next radical step towards appeasement and secularisation. They are constantly on the move, desperately seeking the glory of acceptance from the establishment.

Is it mere coincidence how this document from our bishops appears to mirror this document from the Church of England, three years ago?

Many of us regularly express concern that the Catholic establishment seem to want to follow down the same road as the Anglican Church, despite the fact that, by their own admission, that road is only leading them to assured self-destruction. This document from the CES really does nothing to abate such concerns!

One thing seems abundantly clear: the comments made by Dame Louise Casey last autumn before the select committee about homophobic Catholic schools must be driving this. I would suggest that the CES are bending over backwards to appease and accommodate DfE policy in order to secure the abolition of the 50% cap on admissions for new schools. As long as any new Catholic school is a full vehicle of the state to “queer” the next generation, then Whitehall will be happy and keep the money flowing.

From my experience in education as a parent and a foundation governor, I think most Catholic schools (head teachers and governors) consider that, as 90% of their funding comes from the state, they have no alternative had better do what the state says. My experience is that they have very little idea what Catholic education is or should be, and so it isn’t capitulating much to just keep your head down and do your best to accommodate the secular agenda. As for independents, most of their income comes from fee paying secularists and secularised Catholics so they conform in the hope of not losing their income base

This document certainly convinces me of one thing:

The CES is utterly unfit for purpose.   Source

Comment:

With the above report coming to my attention hot on the heels of this report of the Head Teacher in a pretend Catholic school in Falkirk apologising for offending the “LGBT +++++++++  community” it is becoming clearer by the nano-second that “Catholic schools” are a joke. I can’t wait for the day when cowardly Heads like the Falkirk guy are summarily sacked, and the entire hierarchy of the UK forced to resign and spend the rest of their lives in prayer and penance.  And I kid you not when I say that, in my considered opinion, a bishop with Bishop McMahon’s views is a danger to the young: take a look at that headline again, check out his acceptance of sex education in schools – and feel free to tell me if you disagree…

For the record, I’ve just emailed the Head of St Mungo’s, in Falkirk, to alert him to this discussion, and I have also sent the link to Archbishop McMahon, with a not remotely deferential message.
