Antifa: Convert to Sanity Speaks Out…

Comment:

People in the UK who rely on the mainstream British news outlets may not even have heard of Antifa, or think that it is only active in the USA.  Wrong.  Both Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) are extreme left-wing groups, each openly committed to political violence – and they’re becoming more committed by the nano-second.

Members of these groups have been causing chaos in the USA throughout the summer of 2020, setting fire to buildings and police cars, terrorising cities and towns. They hated President Trump with a vengeance and, in advance of the November 2020 election, the windows in Washington DC were boarded up in anticipation of a Trump victory. When Biden was announced the winner, there was no violence.  Having said that, there is still ongoing violence in certain parts of the USA, but, amazingly, nothing is done about it.  Perhaps RCA Victor,  our American Blogger-in-Chief,  can  explain that.

BLM is also active in the UK.  One headline in the local Evening Telegraph on 12 June, 2020 read:  Outrage at posters in Dundee calling for police, MPs and white people to be killed.  All signed off with #BlackLivesMatter / #Antifa /#BLM Scotland /#Avenge Slavery…

In fact, these groups are not remotely concerned about racism – they’re anarchists.  We saw how the police did nothing when BLM protests took place in the UK at the height of the lockdown – when I say “did nothing” I mean they did nothing to end the protests or round up protesters for breaking Covid restrictions; they did something, though – they joined in with the protest, “taking the knee” to use the silly coinage which has gone into common parlance since the death of George Floyd.

So, what now?  Should the police in the UK show tolerance and even sympathy to these anarchist groups, treat them as domestic terrorists, or set up lines of communication in the hope of winning a few more “converts to sanity” – enabling young people to escape the clutches of these dangerous rebels, and perhaps, in time, with some apostolic endeavour on the part of the Church, convert to Christ?

Scottish Court Rules Closure of Churches Unlawful – Bishops’ Reaction Awaited…

Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus regulations that forced the closure of churches in Scotland and criminalised public worship have been deemed unlawful.

Some representatives from the Church of Scotland, the Free Church of Scotland, the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) and a number of independent churches launched a claim for judicial review against the rules that closed churches during lockdown.

The group of 27 church leaders launched a case at the Court of Session arguing Scottish Government ministers acted out with their powers when ordering the closure of places of worship under emergency legislation.

Their case has now met with success just ahead of new guidance out on Friday allowing churches to open with congregations of up to 50 people.

Judge Lord Braid issued his judgment on Wednesday, finding the Scottish Government regulations were unlawful as they disproportionately interfered with the freedom of religion secured in the European Convention on Human Rights (EHRC).

He said: “It is impossible to measure the effect of those restrictions on those who hold religious beliefs.

“It goes beyond mere loss of companionship and an inability to attend a lunch club.

“The fact that the regulations are backed by criminal sanctions is also a relevant consideration.

“Were the petitioners to insist on manifesting their beliefs, in accordance with their religion, they would be liable to be met with a fine of up to  £10,000, a not insignificant penalty.

“The above factors all point towards the conclusion that the regulations have a disproportionate effect.”

“There are however other factors which point the other way, not least the severity of Covid-19 and the threats posed by the new variant, which I do not underplay in the slightest. This factor deserves considerable weight.

“The need to avoid the NHS being overwhelmed is another factor, although if I am correct in saying that the risk is reduced to an insignificant extent by the regulations, this factor attracts less weight.

“The fact that much public opinion, including that of other faiths and church leaders, supports the closures is also a relevant consideration, which I thought initially might carry some weight.  [Emphasis added].

“However, I have concluded that it does not, for a number of reasons.”

Additional party Canon Tom White’s argument that the regulations were disproportionate on constitutional grounds was also found to be the case by the judge.

A further hearing will now take place so potential remedies can be discussed.

The petitioners have asked for a declarator that a person living in a Level 4 area may lawfully leave their home to attend a place of worship.

Churches are due to be allowed to open on Friday under Scottish Government guidance.   Click here to read above report at source – Daily Record

Comment:

Thank you to our Protestant friends who brought this challenge to court. And notice that the fact that the Bishops (‘church leaders’) supported the closures, might have cost the case.  Maybe now they will show some backbone and refuse to go along with further restrictions on the worship of God.  For, some day, they will hear a similar, if much more damning (literally) judgement from the highest authority imaginable…

This ruling will, of course, be a disappointment to those apparently work-shy clergy (see report on page 6 of our current, March, newsletter) who have expressed enthusiasm for the lockdown closures. This will come as something of a blow to them.  No ‘Church of the New Abnormal’ after all… Shucks. Ach well… back to the future…

Feast of St John Ogilvie… And The Next Archbishop – What Does Glasgow Need?

Comment:

The Videos…

Neither of the above videos is absolutely accurate; in the first video the presenter omits the saint’s words when he threw his rosary into the crowd just before he was hanged: “If there be here any hidden Catholics, let them pray for me but the prayers of heretics I will not have.”  Completely un-ecumenical…

And in the second video, the claim that St John Ogilvie died for religious freedom, for the right to practise whichever religion we choose, is totally false. It is an insult to God who has revealed that He wishes to save us through the Church which Christ founded on earth.  Contrary to the statements in the second video,  John Ogilvie SJ died for offering Mass when it was against the law of the land:  “It was a capital crime to offer Mass in Scotland. So they kept interrogating him, “have you said Mass in the king’s domain?” ‘Of course I have, is that a crime?’ They said, “yes, it is.” ‘Prove it.”  Click here to read more… It’s shameful that we have to search to find the true story of John Ogilvie from the pen of an American Jesuit, while the Scot in the above videos feels the need to water it down…

Future Archbishop of Glasgow…

Following the death of Archbishop Philip Tartaglia, there has been quite a bit of speculation about who might succeed him in the archdiocese.

Reports reaching us from all over the place are a cause for concern. Apparently, the nuncio  is asking for opinions about two current bishops, namely the Bishop of Galloway (William Nolan) and the Bishop of Paisley (John Keenan); the nuncio is curious, it seems, to find out whether either of these two bishops would be considered worthy of this office.

Unfortunately, the nuncio did not ask Catholic Truth.  We’d have replied: “No!  Neither!”

I’ve just been reading Bishop Nolan’s thoughts on lockdown and online Masses.  Clearly, Bishop Nolan would not make the changes necessary in Glasgow, if the Church here is to be revitalised. It would certainly be a case of the “same old, same old” modernism…

Bishop John Keenan of Paisley, then?  Absolutely not!  Suffice to say that we’ve been approached – over a period of many months now – by a number of reliable sources seeking publicity for scandals involving Bishop Keenan.  More than that I will not say at the present time – nor should anyone else, please and thank you.

St John Ogilvie SJ

The only name which springs to mind in the context of a possible new Archbishop of Glasgow is Bishop Stephen Robson of Dunkeld, but since he’s not in the best of health, that seems unlikely. Like the rest of us, he’s not perfect but he does seem to possess a level of doctrinal, liturgical and moral orthodoxy that is lacking just about everywhere else in Scotland.

If you can think of someone you’d like to see become Archbishop of Glasgow, feel free to share your thoughts, but remember, this is not a gossip shop – we are hoping to be given a sound archbishop, who will preach orthodoxy and take practical steps to restore the traditional faith and liturgy. A good sense of humour would be a bonus 😀 To answer the question in the headline – that is what Glasgow needs after many years in the spiritual, religious, liturgical and moral wilderness. On this Feast of St John Ogilvie SJ, then, let us pray for this intention, and if you can think of anyone who fits the bill, tell us…

Happy Feast to one and all!

Restrictions: Crime Against Humanity: Letter to Scottish Health Secretary…

The following letter was penned by our very own Athanasius aka Martin Blackshaw and sent to the Scottish Government Health Secretary, Jeane Freeman SNP, on 16 February, 2021. After briefly outlining some practical examples of how this past year has adversely affected families, Martin continues…

You will never be able to comprehend the mental and emotional anguish associated with such a nightmare, entirely inflicted by the present irresponsible Government.

If there is one positive aspect to be taken from this madness, however, it is that, being of independent mind, I have spent endless hours researching official outlets for all information relating to the Chinese virus dubbed “SARS-CoV-2” - a dubious designation given that this particular Coronavirus has never been isolated and identified by established scientific method (Koch’s Postulates) anywhere in the world, a fact confirmed recently by the Australian government in response to a Freedom of Information request.

Notwithstanding this false classification of the virus, my God-given common sense suggested to me as far back as March last year that locking down a nation in response to a viral pandemic is as futile as it is unprecedented in human history, not to mention unlawful, which is why responsible governments of the past never considered such an approach to pandemic viruses, especially one that is rated 24th in the list of global threats to health.

The World Health Organisation has recently vindicated that wisdom, declaring lockdowns to be both pointless and counterproductive following the utter failure of the initial 4-month effort which concluded in July 2020 with a destroyed global economy, countless millions of ruined lives and a virus still very much alive and spreading.

Whatever happened to that government mantra “we follow the science”? If you really did follow the science then you would know that on May 11 last year Sir Chris Whitty, England’s Chief Medical Officer, declared from Downing Street that “for most people Covid-19 is harmless”, a declaration that has since been echoed by experts the world over.

You would also know that social distancing and face coverings are science-fiction, not peer-reviewed science  fact, which explains why the virus continues to spread despite these ridiculous classroom innovations. Airborne viruses have a much longer range of inhalation than 2 metres and are not deterred by  silly open-sided face masks. Furthermore, droplets can just as easily enter the body through the eyes.

Another questionable element in this global push to impose Beijing government on the nations is PCR testing. I note that the World Health Organisation has finally downgraded this method of testing as unreliable, citing an unacceptably high number of false positives and stating that it should not be used in future to isolate asymptomatic individuals who are very likely not infected.

Of course, a good many experts said this months ago, pointing out that PCR testing was never intended for use as a diagnostic tool on human beings since it cannot distinguish between a live virus and a dead one. They further pointed out that testing is open to results manipulation depending on how many cycles are used to run samples. Interesting that the voices of these eminent scientists and medical experts were suppressed on social media!

At any rate, this unreliability of PCR testing brings me to Covid-19 mortality and the huge question mark that now hangs over accuracy in the numbering of reported dead, even though it is already relatively low as it stands in terms of global population and very small in comparison with the estimated 70 million people who die in the world every year.

Since my immediate concern is about Scottish deaths, I will restrict my observations to official Scottish Government figures. According to these, 15,000 deaths are insinuated on the government website from a population of 5.5 million, which number equates to a mere 0.27% of the Scottish population – hardly the plague upon us!

I say insinuated because nowhere on the government website is there a declaration of deaths resulting directly from Covid-19. Nor indeed are we told how many of these 15,000 deaths were of people with pre-existing serious underlying health conditions, which, as we know, accounts for most deaths.

Instead, we have the following ambiguous declaration: “6,500 have died who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 8,300 deaths were registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate”. Given what we now know about PCR testing it is quite possible that very few of these people died from Covid-19. Is this why the website is so strangely, perhaps legally, vague in the matter?

Just to emphasise how harmless this virus is for a majority of the world’s healthy citizens, the American Centre for Disease Control (CDC) released the following Covid survival statistics in September last year: Age 0-19 years: 99.99% – Age 20-49 years: 99.98% – Age 50-69 years: 99.5% – Age 70 & over years: 94.6%. These numbers have not altered in the five months since they were published.

English Rose

Now, given that at the height of virus infection in England last year 40% of acute NHS beds were lying empty for the first time in decades, and given that more people are at risk of dying from suspended testing and treatment for genuine life-threatening illnesses, not to mention rising suicides and the mental health impact of Covid lockdowns, I want you to tell me what this is really all about.

Official statistics and declarations do not lie and cannot be written off so easily as “conspiracy theory”. This lockdown business, the psychological manipulation via the media to ensure compliance, the mask and social distancing mandates, the surveillance, the misuse of police, the encouraging of neighbours and children to report perceived rule breakers, etc., these are all classic tactics of Communist totalitarian regimes.

In Scotland, the additional singling out of religion for particular lockdown persecution is further confirmation, if such were required, that our nation is at the mercy of a Communist government with a programme to trample the divine and natural law while suppressing Constitutional civil liberties and human rights through abuse of legislative authority. In effect, it is the realisation of G K Chesterton’s wise observation: “Abolish the God, and the government becomes the God.”

As with all such aggressive atheistic regimes, however, the present Scottish government will pass into infamy, as have historically-similar destructive  regimes whose leaders thought themselves elected to power rather than to serving office.

It is in the very nature of Communists to want to dictate, oppress and destroy because they are unhappy souls who have not the charity or wisdom of God in them. The ideology they serve, while masquerading as caring and progressive, is diabolic in origin and in governance, inevitably resulting in national servitude and misery.

My one consolation at this time is that the SNP is presently tearing itself apart internally, another common feature of Communist regimes, and will soon hopefully disappear completely from the Scottish political landscape, though not without first having destroyed the economy and the lives of millions.

There is also the hope that one day, when this Covid fiasco is finally revealed for what it is, a good number of people will be called to account, at a Nuremburg-type hearing, for what I consider to be one of the greatest crimes ever perpetrated against humanity. Whether this happens or not is immaterial for none of us ultimately escapes the far more rigorous justice of God in eternity for our actions in this life.

I will conclude by saying that I would rather take my chances with a real deadly plague than live isolated and oppressed under the present Sturgeon dictatorship. How quickly a few weeks of lockdown “to flatten the curve” turned into a permanent police state with loss of freedom and hope for the population, mirroring life in Red China, North Korea, and the former USSR.  Ends.

Comment:

Thank you, Martin, for writing that first class letter – it speaks for the majority, if not all of us, on this blog.  As a matter of interest, for those who may not know, Jeane Freeman was a leading member of the Communist Party in her youth and the Communist Party is listed as one of her political affiliations on her Wikipedia page.  For now, though, do you agree with Martin that we are living through “one of the greatest crimes ever perpetrated against humanity” ?

Impeachment Acquittal: Corrupt, Sore Losers Continue To Hate Trump – Why?

Comment:

Those who followed the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump know that the Democrats did not remotely prove their case.  Far from it.  Being a defence lawyer in that Senate hearing was the easiest task in the world. Mr Bean would have won the day, so it’s little wonder that the excellent Trump legal team wiped the floor with his accusers – figurately speaking, I hasten to add.  Given the loose interpretation of the Constitution over there, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to impeach a (very) humble Scotswoman for inciting the Scottish Catholic population blah blah. You have to laugh..

However, lest you think that this is The End, think again.  The one person whom you would imagine that Trump could rely on for support – the leader of the Republicans in the House, Mitch McConnell –  spent around 20 minutes after the “not guilty” verdict effectively undermining the work of the defence team and hinting, strongly, that  Trump might yet be criminally prosecuted.  That is how his weasel words are being interpreted in the fake news media.  With glee.

So, here’s the question;  what IS it that causes this undiluted, violent, ongoing hatred of Donald Trump?  Is it, as many people claim, because he sought to clean up the establishment – the inner workings of the “deep state” – or is it something else?  I know the theory that they don’t want him to run again in 2024 but why not give themselves a rest, and wait until the campaigns begin for the next election. It must be exhausting to keep up that level of fury and hatred – not healthy for either body or soul. So, why are they doing that?

I can’t think of anyone in politics who is similarly irrationally hated in the UK – even those Catholics who claim to be pro-life (such as Jacob Rees-Mogg MP) are tolerated with an indulgent smile. Of course, he is at pains to assure the populace that even if he were Prime Minister, he would not be changing the law on abortion. So, that’s not an issue and I’m struggling to think of any other taboo issue that would excite the kind of hatred here in the UK that is clearly on display in America.  Similarly, there is no politician here claiming to root out corruption and crime in the UK.  Maybe, of course, there IS no corruption and crime within the establishment in the UK… Moving on swiftly…

As always, Diamond’s and  Silk’s presentation of the impeachment trial (prior to acquittal) is entertaining, with some hilarious moments.  Enjoy!

Biden’s Agenda: Build Back Backwards!

Comment:

The above overview of the Biden administration so far, requires no further comment here. Far from moving America forward, The Man Who  Stole America is taking the United States back in time… big time!

Diamond and Silk mention, among other things, the Biden return to the evil pro-abortion policies of the Obama/Biden years – there is a separate thread on the push for abortion in the new administration  here

So, true or false… IS Biden’s agenda to build back backwards?

Enjoy the above excellent talk by Irish priest, Father David Sherry, SSPX, Superior of the District of Canada. At 46 minutes, it’s a bit longer than we usually post, but well worth watching right through.

Father Sherry served in the Scottish SSPX churches for a while (not long enough!) soon after his ordination. As evident in the above talk, this is one priest who knows how to teach difficult concepts very simply and clearly.  It’s a real gift.

Having had the pleasure of many conversations with Father Sherry, I’m confident that he won’t mind if I make a debatable point up front.

Firstly, I’ve noticed for a while that the SSPX clergy in general do not speak much in sermons about Fatima. At this point in time, it is my belief that Our Lady’s warnings in 1917 should be at the forefront of every Catholic mind in the world, all the time.  There is just no other event in recent history which matches the Fatima apparitions and subsequent apparitions to Sr Lucia. Father Nicholas Gruner RIP – “the Fatima priest” – would often describe Fatima as the single most important event in the twentieth century.  Thus, it is a little surprising to hear Father Sherry say, in an oblique reference to Fatima,  that he “thinks” the Church will be restored through the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

I’m not sure why priests appear to be reluctant to speak about Fatima because it’s as clear as the day is long that those prophecies are unfolding before our very eyes – goodness, the three child-seers reported Our Lady’s warning that Communism would spread from Russia before Communism was established in Russia!  And it’s spreading like wildfire across the world right now. It’s already arrived here in the UK.  It’s the easiest of all apparitions to explain:  two of the three seers are already canonised – and they were able to reveal that Our Lady had affirmed Catholic dogmas from papal authority to the reality of Hell, by letting them actually see the tormented souls in Hell. There was a public miracle, witnessed by over 70,000 people and reported – with photographs of the massive crowd – in the local newspapers at the time. Atheists converted on the spot.

It is a little puzzling, then, that priests don’t seem to have Fatima at the front of their minds in preaching and in conversations.  In the case of Fr Sherry, I know it can’t be for lack of belief in the apparitions – he gladly attended our Fatima Conference some years ago when we had the privilege of welcoming Father Gruner RIP to address a Catholic Truth audience and I have heard him speak of the apparitions, with conviction.  I’m sure there will be other videos in which Fr Sherry does, in fact, speak of Fatima, but  should not  the Fatima Message be right at the forefront of all Catholic minds today, and shouldn’t we – priests especially – never assume that we are speaking to the already converted or informed? Repetition is the mother of education, as the saying goes…

Maybe our commentators will disagree – share your thoughts on that, but don’t forget, either, to comment on the excellence of the information in the above video, not to mention Father Sherry’s superb professional delivery – he is a natural communicator and a first class teacher.

I’ll send the link to this thread to Father Sherry, so if I disappear without explanation, start a crowd-funding campaign to pay the ransom 😀

China Pursuing World Domination: Brazen – It Could Not Be More Obvious…

Comment:

Are we being prepared for Chinese Communist domination?  Is this why we are being kept in our homes, restricted in our movements, told what is and is not “essential” for us to buy?  A friend  tells me that Christmas cards don’t seem to be on the list of “essential” items, at least not when he tried to gain entry to a shopping centre in Glasgow a few days ago, only to be turned away by a “Marshall”.  The normally very busy city streets, he tells me, were empty.

Is this why, if we wish to receive dental treatment in Glasgow, now only available in an emergency (the patient must be in pain), we have to agree to have our temperature taken as a condition of the treatment being administered?

Every institution has its own lawmakers now – whether it’s a Health Board or a Company issuing decrees,  with employees and other members of the public supervising us all, and/or spying on us, and reporting their neighbours to the authorities. Is this to get us schooled in obedience, so that we get used to doing what we’re told and not asking questions about what is happening, let alone rebelling against it?

Communism is writ large in Scotland now.  In a sense, we are in the earlyish stages, of course; we’re not (yet) being carted off to re-education centres.

Am I reading too much into our new way of life?  Will we ever, thinkest thou, return to the “old normal” – as when we would watch the Chinese people on our TV screens, feeling sorry for them  having to wear face masks all the time; or are we set to live, as they do, having had our personal and religious freedoms permanently taken from us, under Communist tyranny?

Covid-19: Tyranny – Shouldn’t We ALL Shout At Politicians? Hmmm… YES!

Comment:

Well done, Julia, for telling Bob Stewart MP  that you have every right to shout at him, given that he is planning to vote for continuing/worsening restrictions in the name of Covid, without a shred of evidence for the need to do so.  He comes across as a weakling, keen to keep on the right side of his equally weak boss.  Well done!  Your show, and others at talkRadio, is about the only pushback to this shocking removal of our freedom. In saner times, we could have looked to our priests and bishops to fight, on the grounds that our liberty comes from God, and cannot be taken away by any Government.  But, to match the weak MP on your show today and the weak Prime Minister, we also have a bunch of weak priests matching their weak “bosses”;  there hasn’t been a right-thinking Bishop in possession of a backbone seen anywhere in Scotland since the outset of this “crisis”. They accepted then that God is a non-essential “item” and it’s been all downhill ever since.

However, ever keen to be fair to them 😀 and in case I’d missed an announcement from the Scottish Bishops’ Conference opposing the continuing restrictions on our personal and religious freedoms, I paid a visit just now to their website.  No sign of any opposition there; far from it – there is a notice offering priests in Scotland an opportunity to participate in an online Advent afternoon of recollection which will take place via Zoom on Thursday 10th December 2020,  from 2pm – 4pm.   Unbelievable.  Source

Here’s a wee meditation suggestion for the clergy – would only take about 10 minutes of the two hours allocated for their “Advent afternoon of recollection” – why not start acting like real priests, ignore the Government restrictions, announce that if anyone wishes to report you to the police, to at least have the courage to give advance notice, including name and address, with a short signed note waiving their claim  to the Last Sacraments, including Confession, should they become seriously ill at any time during this contrived crisis.   You can see why they won’t ordain women, can’t you, ‘cos’ that’s exactly  what I’d do, I kid you not.

Anyway, back to Julia’s response to that hapless Member of Parliament – was she right to shout at him?  Would you shout at your MP, given half a chance?  I’ve already had to switch off the capital letters when I email mine, because he might not reply if I “shout” over the internet 😀     Is “shouting” – for which read, more accurately, plain-speaking, vigorous discussion –  likely to get the message across that you want him or her fighting to restore our liberty?  Well, frankly, being nice and soft-spoken doesn’t seem to be making any difference, so, worth a try…  if only via the internet?

What’s  that?  Does this question – “would/should we shout” (at them) –   also apply to Bishops? Well, now… what do you think?
