A Happy & Holy Christmas Everyone!

Comment:

Since singing is frowned upon at this time (“the virus” apparently isn’t the musical type!) we invite bloggers to post their favourite Christmas carols / songs on this thread, as well as favourite prayers and stories about Christmas. One of my own favourite short stories is the beautiful, classic Gift of the Magi by O Henry – enacted below…

Happy Christmas to our bloggers and to all visitors to this site.

China Pursuing World Domination: Brazen – It Could Not Be More Obvious…

Comment:

Are we being prepared for Chinese Communist domination?  Is this why we are being kept in our homes, restricted in our movements, told what is and is not “essential” for us to buy?  A friend  tells me that Christmas cards don’t seem to be on the list of “essential” items, at least not when he tried to gain entry to a shopping centre in Glasgow a few days ago, only to be turned away by a “Marshall”.  The normally very busy city streets, he tells me, were empty.

Is this why, if we wish to receive dental treatment in Glasgow, now only available in an emergency (the patient must be in pain), we have to agree to have our temperature taken as a condition of the treatment being administered?

Every institution has its own lawmakers now – whether it’s a Health Board or a Company issuing decrees,  with employees and other members of the public supervising us all, and/or spying on us, and reporting their neighbours to the authorities. Is this to get us schooled in obedience, so that we get used to doing what we’re told and not asking questions about what is happening, let alone rebelling against it?

Communism is writ large in Scotland now.  In a sense, we are in the earlyish stages, of course; we’re not (yet) being carted off to re-education centres.

Am I reading too much into our new way of life?  Will we ever, thinkest thou, return to the “old normal” – as when we would watch the Chinese people on our TV screens, feeling sorry for them  having to wear face masks all the time; or are we set to live, as they do, having had our personal and religious freedoms permanently taken from us, under Communist tyranny?

Covid-19: Tyranny – Shouldn’t We ALL Shout At Politicians? Hmmm… YES!

Comment:

Well done, Julia, for telling Bob Stewart MP  that you have every right to shout at him, given that he is planning to vote for continuing/worsening restrictions in the name of Covid, without a shred of evidence for the need to do so.  He comes across as a weakling, keen to keep on the right side of his equally weak boss.  Well done!  Your show, and others at talkRadio, is about the only pushback to this shocking removal of our freedom. In saner times, we could have looked to our priests and bishops to fight, on the grounds that our liberty comes from God, and cannot be taken away by any Government.  But, to match the weak MP on your show today and the weak Prime Minister, we also have a bunch of weak priests matching their weak “bosses”;  there hasn’t been a right-thinking Bishop in possession of a backbone seen anywhere in Scotland since the outset of this “crisis”. They accepted then that God is a non-essential “item” and it’s been all downhill ever since.

However, ever keen to be fair to them 😀 and in case I’d missed an announcement from the Scottish Bishops’ Conference opposing the continuing restrictions on our personal and religious freedoms, I paid a visit just now to their website.  No sign of any opposition there; far from it – there is a notice offering priests in Scotland an opportunity to participate in an online Advent afternoon of recollection which will take place via Zoom on Thursday 10th December 2020,  from 2pm – 4pm.   Unbelievable.  Source

Here’s a wee meditation suggestion for the clergy – would only take about 10 minutes of the two hours allocated for their “Advent afternoon of recollection” – why not start acting like real priests, ignore the Government restrictions, announce that if anyone wishes to report you to the police, to at least have the courage to give advance notice, including name and address, with a short signed note waiving their claim  to the Last Sacraments, including Confession, should they become seriously ill at any time during this contrived crisis.   You can see why they won’t ordain women, can’t you, ‘cos’ that’s exactly  what I’d do, I kid you not.

Anyway, back to Julia’s response to that hapless Member of Parliament – was she right to shout at him?  Would you shout at your MP, given half a chance?  I’ve already had to switch off the capital letters when I email mine, because he might not reply if I “shout” over the internet 😀     Is “shouting” – for which read, more accurately, plain-speaking, vigorous discussion –  likely to get the message across that you want him or her fighting to restore our liberty?  Well, frankly, being nice and soft-spoken doesn’t seem to be making any difference, so, worth a try…  if only via the internet?

What’s  that?  Does this question – “would/should we shout” (at them) –   also apply to Bishops? Well, now… what do you think?

USA Election Affects Whole World – Trump Win Essential For Democracy…

Comment:

The impression is being given, both in the USA and here in the UK, that the election is in the bag for Biden.  Let’s hope and pray that this is not the case because it would have serious consequences for life across the world, including the UK.  We are already experiencing Police State tactics here, and increasingly so;  watch this video about the young English mother who was arrested – and is living under Bail conditions – for attending an anti-lockdown protest…

Click here to read her story at Rebel News

There is no question that we are seeing tyrannical governance in action today in various parts of the world, perhaps more so in the UK than in America.  Trump apparently said at one of his many recent rallies that if he is returned to the White House he will be visiting foreign leaders to educate them about the truth about this virus (I paraphrase, but that is the sense of what I’m told he said at one of his rallies a day or so ago.) Fear of this virus, whether real or contrived, is being used to subject us to tyranny.  That is now indisputable.

We need Donald Trump to be returned for a number of reasons, not least so that he can  to continue his efforts to save unborn and newly born  babies from being put to death.  The latest news on that front is that Trump has issued a proclamation promoting adoption as an alternative to abortion. That he is pro-life and Biden is pro-death should suffice for any Christian to vote to return Trump to the White House.

In the case of a Biden victory, not only will the murder of unborn and newly born babies continue (Biden & Harris are unashamedly pro-abortion without limits, i.e. to include infanticide), but Amy Stewart won’t be the last victim of tyrannical State rule here in the UK. Not for nothing is the President of the USA called “leader of the free world”.  Team Biden is not interested in “freedom” – he’s already promising to lockdown America (in the name of the virus, of course) if he were to win today’s election.

Without Trump in the White House, democracy and life itself will be  – literally – endangered species… Why would any Catholic NOT vote for Trump?  As one commentator wrote on the YouTube platform under a video promoting a Trump win buildings are not being boarded up in Washington DC for fear of having Trump Tweets thrown at them…  The alternative to Trump is a vicious, violent Party which hates both democracy and human life.  No Catholic may, in good conscience, vote for that. They must pray – and vote – for another 4 years in the White House for Donald J. Trump.  And if they don’t like his tweets, tough!  Actress, Kirstie Alley sums up that dilemma beautifully in the video at the top of this page:  when the choice is between “rough and tough” or “snakes” there is no contest.

God bless America!

Anti-Catholic US Democrats Oppose Trump’s (Catholic) Supreme Court Pick…

Comment:

Just imagine, for a moment, the outcry if those anti-Catholic Democratic politicians had quizzed a Muslim, or the member of any other religion, in the way they put down Amy Coney Barrett due to her religious beliefs.  Just imagine the outcry in the media. What is it about Catholics, that we take such hatred “on the chin”?

And why do Catholics in public office seek to allay the fears of our enemies by saying things to the effect that their religion won’t interfere with their professional obligations?  No point in being a Catholic at all, if that is the case.

What else could Amy Coney Barrett have said in response to the question about her Faith and her work as a Judge? Perhaps point out that it could never be the case that true justice would be opposed to anything taught by Christ and His Catholic Church?  Words to that effect?  What, then?

American Catholics Vote for Presidential Candidate Joe Biden? Absolutely NOT!

Letter From a Pastor…

My dear _______,

I received your letter expressing your disappointment that I mentioned in my column in the bulletin that former Vice President Joseph Biden has clearly taken positions in favor of legalized abortion. You claim that the candidate is pro-life because he stated in a debate with Congressman Paul Ryan that he was “personally opposed” to abortion.

You further state that you believe Mr. Biden is a “sincere politician” who is a devout Catholic. Repeating what seems to have been a package released to the press to shore up Catholic support for him, you remark that he carries a rosary with him, that one of his staff says his presidential bid is a “subtle invocation of Catholic beliefs,” that Pete Buttigieg says Mr. Biden receives “comfort and meaning” from his faith, and that a political colleague of his praises his “pastoral care” of the bereaved.

Of course you know that carrying a rosary is not proof of being pro-life. The “subtlety” of Biden’s “invocation of his Catholic beliefs” is what is a clanger for me. He is far too subtle for me. A man who changed his stance on the Hyde Amendment and is now in favor of taxpayer money going for abortion hardly seems to respect even his own “personal” opposition to abortion. The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) fiercely attacked Biden last year in June about his support for the Hyde Amendment. Shortly after that, Biden “amended” his position from opposition in the name of conscience to approval of public moneys for abortion because of President Trump’s active opposition to abortion on demand at any point in the pregnancy.

A Latin American writer, Sergio Ramirez of Nicaragua, a former Sandinista official, wrote a short story that is illustrative about a so-called public servant who forgets his own principles called “Adam and Eve.” It begins, “That February afternoon he left his house determined to have a conversation with his Conscience and for that reason invited her to drink a beer with him.” “He” is a judge and he takes his Conscience out to a dive in Managua because he wants to explain why he is about to take a bribe in a corruption case. He is surprised when she eagerly drinks a beer and orders another. The accused is a sick man who will suffer in prison, he tells her. She asks how much money is offered, and he tells her 2,000 dollars, not cordobas. “Of course, you wouldn’t sell me in the national currency,” she says.

“You know that this is the first time I have done this,” he says to her pleadingly. Of course, he will never do it again, he tells her, and she laughs. Right now it is an emergency. “Until the next one comes along.” There are worse things he could do. “I’m glad you see it that way,” she says. The result is that his Conscience accedes to his corruption. Then the judge looks at her as she continues to drink and thinks, “She is not what she used to be.”

That is what I think of Mr. Biden’s conscience, too—not that he was ever consistently pro-life. NARAL might have been opposed to him, but they gave him a high rating of approval while he was a senator. Now they have endorsed him enthusiastically. This is evidence of a very subtle invocation of Catholic principles if you ask me. It is so subtle that the enemies of life in the womb embrace Mr. Buttigieg’s devoted Catholic with love.

But there is another current example of Mr. Biden’s opposition to Catholic institutions’ freedom of religion. When he was vice president, he argued that church institutions should be exempt from the federal mandate to cover birth control, sterilizations, and abortifacients. The government has since not only recognized the right of the individual to such devices and methods but now makes it a political right imposed on the person’s employers to pay for them. President Obama, consistently pro-abortion even when it comes to live births during abortion procedures, did not agree with Mr. Biden. Now Mr. Biden agrees with him and criticizes the Supreme Court for recognizing the rights of the Little Sisters of the Poor in refusing to pay in conscience for what is opposed to Church teaching and is hardly a constitutional right. When he is president, he will make the good Sisters pay for birth control, abortifacients included. This takes subtlety to a new level.

Lewis Carroll’s Humpty Dumpty famously asserts, “When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” When Alice objects that words cannot be used that way he says, “The question is who is master—that’s all.”

I see the media blitz about the Catholic sensibility of Mr. Biden as an attempt to make Catholics ignore the reality of his very secular and indifferent attitude about things Catholics should deem important. Facti non verbi is a Latin saying that means “deeds not words.” Political positions are deeds, and Mr. Biden is signaling an anti-life bias that will no doubt influence his nominations to the judiciary. Because he claims to be a “good” Catholic, he gives us the right to make public our disagreement with him and clarify his divergence from the teachings of the Church. This is also the case with his proactive endorsement of same-sex marriages.

If Mr. Biden were my parishioner, I would have to follow the example of those brave priests who have denied him Communion. This would get me in trouble with bishops and others who want to keep peace by not talking about contradictions. But there is such a thing as truth, even in the midst of a media full court press to unseat the incumbent president by cobbling together a coalition that includes Catholics to support a member of the Church whose conscience has been overcome by confusion, if not simple ambition. Why does a Catholic politician feel the need to placate those who oppose the Church by taking up concrete positions while he does not feel the need to say anything more than sweet nothings to calm his fellow believers?

I hope that you will accept this explanation of why I pointed out to the people in my pastoral care the disappointment I felt with Mr. Biden’s “change of heart,” if you can call it that. My prayers are with you, and I encourage you to pray for our country in the cultural maelstrom we find ourselves in. We must turn to Jesus in all our troubles and ask for the Holy Spirit to give us discernment in times that indeed try men’s souls, sometimes trying them and finding them wanting.

God bless you, and thank you for your honesty in writing me directly. Others prefer to communicate with the chancery, and therefore I appreciate your forthrightness.    In Christ,  Your Pastor      Source

Comment…

Aside from everything laid out in the above letter from a priest, Joe Biden has problems which manifest themselves wherever he goes – strange comments, challenging attitude to members of the public in meetings, you name it.  I can’t believe that he is standing against Donald Trump (or anyone else, for that matter) in the November USA election.  Nothing of Joe’s strange behaviour is mentioned in the broadcasting media in the UK (not that I’ve seen – he is mentioned only as a likely successor to Trump!)  Which is why I’m posting the short video below – it will be an eye-opener to many readers and bloggers here.  The key question, of course, for discussion is whether or not any Catholic may, in good conscience, vote for Biden in November.  I mean, President Trump has his faults.  He’s no saint – he’s not even a Catholic!   However, he should, without a shadow of a doubt, receive the vote of every Catholic in  America.  Remember, conscience is not a teacher; it has to be formed. And any well formed Catholic conscience will know that there is no way in this world that Catholics could possibly vote for Joe Biden – a man who is Catholic in name only. Just check out Father’s letter above again.  If you disagree – please explain.

Will “Normal” Life Ever Return… Can You REMEMBER Life Before Lockdown?

Comment:

Just about everything Tucker Carlson says about the USA applies to the UK as well.  Nobody talks about Chinese Whispers any more – it’s Chinese authoritarianism screaming from the rooftops.

The one difference between the USA and the UK is that there is almost no  fightback in the UK – or certainly none being reported in the media.  The Keep Britain Free movement, for example, hasn’t been mentioned in any news programme, to the best of my knowledge, and there are just no commentators like Tucker Carlson or any of his peers, in this part of the world. It’s sinister in the extreme.   There are occasional protests, including from churchmen in the USA, while the Catholic bishops and clergy here in the UK are fully complicit in the march of Marxism and the transformation of our system of government into blatant totalitarianism.  Given that totalitarian Governments are not known for their tolerance of religion, this identifies these cowardly clergymen as “useful idiots” – by the bucketful.

Life now, during and following lockdown (now eased a little but with the possibility of a return to house arrest always hanging over us)  does, indeed, resemble life in Communist China. Indeed, lockdown has already returned to several parts of England, as well as to the city of Aberdeen in Scotland.  Life is horrendous now. Take a walk in any shopping centre without wearing a mask and watch the sheer terror on the faces around you. It’s going to be a walk in the park (in a manner of speaking) to keep conditioning us to the point where our memory of life before lockdown has been completely erased.

The key question is…  has this been planned?  Are we now into the first phase of openly totalitarian government in Scotland and the wider UK?

We can ask the question now on this platform – but for how much longer?

Young Catholics in Scotland Talk About The Faith: Well… Sort of… Not Really…

Comment:

The young people in the above video (published in November, 2018) are just lovely.  Each and every one of them is transparently pleasant and sincere.  They are obviously proud to be Catholics, God bless their tartan socks 😀

Yet, there is no way to gauge the level of their knowledge and understanding of the Faith.  Their assessment of what it’s like to be a young Catholic in Scotland today is generic; there’s no substance to any of their comments.  There can’t be substance, really, because  they’ve not been properly taught the Faith themselves. We know this is the case because the Faith hasn’t been taught faithfully in Catholic schools in Scotland for (literally) generations now.

Is it likely that these very pleasant and sincere youngsters would be qualified to discuss and debate key Catholic dogma and morals?  And if not, how can they really know what it is like to be a young Catholic in Scotland today?   Is it not more accurate to claim that they have experienced what it is like to be a religious young person in Scotland today, albeit from a Catholic background?

Marxism Failed – that’s the good news…

Comment:

Why, given that it always creates totalitarian states, does Marxism continue to draw the young – because it does attract the young.

That, to continue from the headline, is the bad news…

I know of students who are committed to studying Marx and who identify themselves as Socialists.  What’s the draw?

Our Lady appeared at Fatima precisely to warn against the spread of Communism, yet we have bishops (and now a Pope) who are implicitly, if not explicitly singing from the same Marxist hymn sheet – er… to coin a phrase.   Why?

What can we say  – in a few short words, a soundbite, almost –  to draw them closer to a realization that it is Christ – not Marx – who is the answer to all the problems and mysteries of life…

Contrived Coronavirus Crisis: Has UK Population Drifted into a Police State?

Police forces are planning their own contact tracing system over concerns the government’s test and trace scheme could place officers in danger, Sky News has learned.

Under the plans, police officers who test positive for COVID-19 would not give their contacts to NHS contact tracers, but would instead inform their police force who would take over contact tracing to identify anyone at risk of catching the virus.

The plans, which are being developed by the Police Federation and the National Police Chiefs’ Council, could see police forces take over all contact tracing for police officers and staff, according to a source close to the matter…

Public health experts said the news raised questions about the entire test and trace system, which is being run by a collection of private companies overseen by PHE. [Public Health England].

“Contact tracing systems are based on trust,” said Allyson Pollock, director of Newcastle University’s Institute of Health and Society. “This tells you that the police don’t trust the system and don’t believe data will not be shared more widely, not just with the call handlers but the whole system.

“I think the public needs to be asking very serious questions about this.”   Source – Sky News

Comment:

The key “serious question” here is, clearly – have we, by being so compliant with the lockdown regulations, drifted into accepting a full blown police state?  Is this latest development in the contrived [check the statistics] Coronavirus “crisis” merely evidence that we are now, effectively, living in a police state?   While, at this stage, this is supposedly about the police tracing people with whom they have been in contact – a restricted level of contact tracing – it’s not difficult to see how easily this could be extended. If contact tracing is already in the hands of private companies, as revealed above, what’s to prevent the current limited police powers being extended?  These days, anything is possible.  I mean, who would have imagined just six months ago, that the entire countries of the UK (and, indeed, the entire world) would be forced to live under the current lockdown restrictions, with the loss of our civil and religious freedoms?

In which case, the concept of being suspected of a crime being the prerequisite  to “becoming known to the police” would be a thing of the past.  We’d just need to have been ill or physically in the presence of someone who had the virus.  If we accept this without a murmur, we can say “goodbye” permanently to our freedom to practice our religion.

And it’s all very well Allyson Pollock saying the public needs to be asking very serious questions about this – but how? Who do we ask? We can’t organise meetings due to the lockdown rules, we have been silenced and required to obey the State.  There is no dissent from the “new normal” permitted because the news broadcasters have become an arm of the State. Even in supermarkets we have to obey rules designed to keep communication with others at a minimum  – “stand here until the person in front moves forward” … It’s all very sinister.

So, share your thoughts – have we drifted into a full-blown police state?
