Faithful Catholics to Faithless Priests in U.S.A & Ireland : Believe or Be Gone!

Editor writes:

Our American blogger, RCA Victor, alerted me to the following Open Letter from the Lepanto Institute to the Bishops of the United States of America, asking them to ban an organisation of dangerous priests.  This Association of United States Catholic Priests (AUSCP) sounds uncomfortably like the Association of (Anything But) Catholic Priests in Ireland, so the case made in this Open Letter applies equally to the Bishops of Ireland. But will any of these Bishops act to protect the people in their dioceses?  Not likely.

The key question here, though, apart from the obvious question about the Bishops lack of integrity, lack of care for both the dissident priests and the faithful whom they are poisoning with their anti-Catholic ambitions, is, why don’t these faithless priests just leave?  “Believe or be gone!” is our message to them – and we’ll be sending the link to this thread to the leaders of each of these associations, and to each of the Bishops’ Conferences, to make sure they get the message.

Open Letter  to the Bishops of the USA from the Lepanto Institute…

Dear Eminences and Excellencies,

Since last November, the Lepanto Institute has been investigating and reporting on the actions and goals of an organization of priests called the Association of United States Catholic Priests (AUSCP). What we have discovered is that this organization of priests, which claims to be “the largest association of priests in the United States,” is:

promoting women’s ordination to the diaconate (with eyes on the priestly ordination of women),
homosexuality,
priestless parishes,
married priests,
and a host of other heterodox positions.

In addition to this, we found that the AUSCP is acting in concert with heretical and condemned entities, such as New Ways Ministry, Dignity USA, FutureChurch, and the International Church Reform Network (ICRN). AUSCP was even instrumental in helping the dissident Fr. Helmut Schuller find a speaking venue, contravening the expressed wishes of Cardinal O’Malley, Archbishop Chaput, and Archbishop Vigneron, who banned him from speaking in their respective dioceses.

Two weeks ago, I personally went to Albuquerque, NM to observe the AUSCP as it held its annual assembly there. In addition to the common sight of these priests wearing rainbow pins on their lanyards and seeing the plethora of pro-homosexual literature proliferating the exhibition hall, I was able to sit in on a keynote address delivered by Fr. Richard Rohr, who denied the inerrancy of Scripture, denied the infallibility of the Pope, and claimed that Christianity was a “religion of white privilege.”

Your Eminences and Excellencies, the AUSCP is an organization which poses a clear and present danger to the faith and to the faithful. I bring this information to your attention because they are a growing threat to the faith and to your flock, and their members are likely already present in your diocese. If you examine this organization on your own, I am confident you will see that this is an organization that should be banned and membership forbidden.

Please know that we pray sincerely and earnestly for all of you every day.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Michael Hichborn

President, Lepanto Institute

Informed Choice: Should Catholics Campaign For Televised Abortions?

 From Herald Scotland…

The Catholic Church has opened a “pro-life office” in Scotland to co-ordinate a campaign against abortion in a move described by pro-choice campaigners as a “backlash” after the Republic of Ireland voted to overturn a ban.

One of the country’s most senior Catholic clerics, Archbishop Leo Cushley (pictured below), cut the ribbon at the campaign hub in Edinburgh three days after the referendum in the Republic which delivered a landslide victory for the repeal side , by 66.4 per cent to 33.6 per cent…

Speaking exclusively to the Sunday Herald, Archbishop Cushley said the new pro-life office at the Gillis Centre in Edinburgh would aim to build a “democratic consensus” around “legislative change” in Scotland, where it is legal to end a pregnancy during the first 24 weeks...

Archbishop Cushley said: “One of the many lessons of the recent referendum in Ireland is that those of us who seek to promote a culture of life have a distance to go in terms of winning over hearts and minds to the pro-life cause and that, really, is one of the key tasks of our new pro-life office.

Comment:

If  people see the reality of abortion – if they see the “products” of abortion – arms, legs, heads, various organs – lying in dishes in what has been, for that baby boy or girl, a death camp, the pro-lifers will soon “win over hearts and minds”.  Until then, the pro-life organisations will go on paying for premises and glossy brochures (not to mention salaries) that make not one jot of difference to those same hearts and minds.

Various operations have been televised – click here for a list – so why not abortions?

Instead of worrying about presentation and not upsetting anyone, the pro-life activists must come to realise that it is ONLY by upsetting the pro-abortion lobby and the wider public that they will have any chance of ending the State-sanctioned murder of the unborn  in the UK.

Just think of the publicity, the headlines, the TV interviews, the radio discussions, if, instead of announcing a new office, Archbishop Cushley had announced the launching of an important and very serious campaign to give women genuine choice by allowing us all to see abortions being performed. Tact and Diplomacy hasn’t worked, and it won’t work now.  In fact, it never works. Just ask Pontius Pilate…

Blasphemous Cartoon Highlights Urgency of First Saturdays Devotion…

The cartoon below was sent to me in an email, and I’ve been unable to trace in online.  It was published in the Irish Independent and they’ve managed to hide it well.  I am now familiar with every inch of that rag online, but still had to resort to my own amateur methods in order to publish the cartoon here.  Which I do very reluctantly, because it is depicting the evil of the Irish abortion referendum is all its glory  gory reality.

Note, the “obstruction” removed by the surgeon, is a rosary.  Utterly shocking, but, ironically, makes the point – albeit unwittingly – that the rosary is, indeed, an obstruction to the diabolical drive to steal souls in Ireland – as elsewhere. No longer, it seems, is the Rosary to be allowed to keep alive the Faith in once-Catholic (now pagan) Ireland…

The reason for publishing it here at all is simply to urge readers to make the five First Saturdays as a matter of urgency.  Briefly, to remind us all, the background to this devotion is as follows:

On July 13th 1917, Our Lady of Fatima, after showing the three Fatima seers a vision of hell, she said “You have seen hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my immaculate heart… I shall come to ask for… the Communion of reparation on the First Five Saturdays.”

On December 10, 1925, Our Lady said to Sister Lucia “Look, my daughter, at my heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men  pierce  at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me with your prayers and sacrifices. I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for their salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

Why Five Saturdays?

Five first Saturdays of reparation were requested to atone for the five ways in which people offend the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

1. attacks upon Mary’s Immaculate Conception
2. attacks against her Perpetual Virginity
3. attacks upon her Divine Maternity and the refusal to accept her as the Mother of all mankind
4. for those who try to publicly implant in children’s hearts indifference, contempt and even hatred of this Immaculate Mother
5. for those who insult her directly in her sacred images.

Extract from Letter of Sister Lucia

On 1 November, 1927, Sister Lucia wrote a letter to Doña Maria de Miranda, her Godmother, explaining this devotion::

“I don’t know if you already know about the reparatory devotion of the five Saturdays to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As it is still recent, I would like to inspire you to practise it, because it is requested by Our dear Heavenly Mother and Jesus has manifested a desire that it be practised. Also, it seems to me that you would be fortunate, dear Godmother, not only to know it and to give Jesus the consolation of practising it, but also to make it known and embraced by many other persons.

“It consists in this: During five months on the first Saturday, to receive Jesus in Communion, recite a Rosary, keep Our Lady company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, and make a confession. The confession can be made a few days earlier, and if in this previous confession you have forgotten the (required) intention the following intention can be offered, provided that on the first Saturday one receives Holy Communion in a state of grace, with the intention of repairing for offences against the Most Holy Virgin and which afflict Her Immaculate Heart.

Comment:

As well as resolving to make the First Saturdays as a matter of priority, readers are also encouraged to email the Irish Independent newspaper which published this disgraceful cartoon, to object, strongly, to this insult to the Mother of God.  You can email at ‘contact@independent.ie’

For the record, a couple of emails already sent…

From Editor, Catholic Truth

Dear Sir/ Madam

I write to express my disgust at your blasphemous cartoon mocking the Rosary, the prayer which Catholics in Ireland and beyond have prayed for centuries, and which, we are promised, has been given even greater efficacy in our times – little wonder, given the scandalous state of the world, with women in a formerly Catholic nation dancing in the streets with joy at the prospect of the introduction of the State-sanctioned killing of unborn babies. Given that the Hail Mary closes with the hopeful plea “pray for us, now and at the hour of our death…” I think, in your shoes, I would be a very nervous-through-to-quaking-with-fear individual indeed, having published such an offensive and blasphemous cartoon.

For, possibly the abused aside, which of us would not outraged to witness our mother being insulted? My mother died almost three years ago and I still treasure every memory of her – I could not promise to hold fast to my reputation as a law-abiding subject, were someone to insult my mother. God, be assured, will not allow this huge insult to His mother to go unpunished.

If you are possessed of even the minimal professionalism required to publish a profound apology for this blasphemous attack on the Rosary, and thus the Mother of God, I will be both surprised and pleased. Very surprised.   Editor, Catholic Truth

From  Wendy Walker, regular pro-life Catholic Truth blogger…

Editor [Irish Independent],

I cannot tell you how very disgusted I am to see a cartoon of the lowest order in your paper !

Can you tell me what is even funny about it ?

To dare to print this at a time when Ireland has gone from a sacred pro life Country to a rabid pro death one and which if /when implemented will cause the deaths of countless pre-borns and some unwilling mums to be …and multiple physical and mental traumas affecting them.

I am neither Catholic or Irish but I am pro life; here in The UK with 50 years of infant bloodlust under its belt I have seen and heard dreadful stories entrenched in the killing of these tiny precious infants.

I would ask you to have the decency to print an apology in your next Edition so the few people who purchase it can see some remorse

I really hope you get reported to Newspaper Standards Committees to ensure nothing like this occurs again

Yours disgustedly and Shocked

Readers are encouraged to sent their own emails to the newspaper and to copy them onto the blog.

Catholic Truth Goes To Ireland…

A small group of us will be in Ireland for a couple of days later this week,  leafleting in support of the pro-life campaign in the forthcoming abortion referendum.

News updates will be posted on this thread, and any statistics on abortion in the UK that you think will help us when we speak to Irish people on the streets of Dublin on Thursday and Friday, will be most welcome.  Please post as many facts as you can find – we need to be well equipped to convince the “undecided” as, sadly, the humanity of the unborn child doesn’t seem to be sufficient in the face of the propaganda about the woman’s alleged right to choose.  We WILL do our best to counter this argument, since it’s not HER body that the choice is about, but about the body – and soul – of the unborn baby. Our excellent little leaflet highlights this fact, that the child being destroyed by abortion was destined for eternal life, known by God from all eternity.

Above all, please pray for our trip – we’ll only be there on Thursday all day and then on Friday, the day of the referendum, so time is short.  We have organised 3,000 leaflets to distribute so we will be very busy during the two days.

Our leaflet includes some details about Gianna Care – a practical pro-life group – so please spread this website around, send it to your friends and relatives in Ireland, for them to use in campaigning to save the 8th amendment of the Irish Constitution which protects the right to life of the unborn child.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us!

17/03/18: Hail, Glorious Saint Patrick!

I cannot allow the Feast of my patron saint to pass without marking it, so I wish everyone, bloggers and readers, A very happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

As always with devotional threads, feel free to post relevant comments, stories and jokes, favourite prayers and hymns… As well as the above rendition of the hymn to Saint Patrick, I’m posting the lovely Irish hymn to Our Lady of Knock… Enjoy!

May, 2018: Abortion In Ireland: Be Careful What You Wish Vote For…

From the Spectator…

Ross Clark
14 February 2018

Most of the time I feel perfectly at ease in my own country, and that would be the case had we voted Brexit or Remain, Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn. But just occasionally Britain seems to me an utterly alien place – bizarre even. Today, Jeremy Corbyn launched his manifesto for pets. He wants to ban foie gras, make it mandatory for motorists to report that they have run over and killed cats, and pass a law giving tenants the right to keep a pet. I don’t suspect that he will encounter a great deal of opposition on these things – bar a token protest on the last from buy-to-let investors. Fox hunting aside, no political party in recent times has come to much harm by doing something to help furry, feathery or scaly animals. In the past 20 years, we have had animal laws by the dozen, controlling the use of animals in circuses and in advertising campaigns, laws against sow stalls and numerous others.

This would all be fine – I can’t say I have a problem with much of the above – if it weren’t for the utter refusal on the part of our main political parties to even discuss what seems to me a far more pressing issue for human beings: the rights of unborn children. With the honourable exception of Jacob Rees-Mogg, when did you last hear a frontline politician or even backbench MP dare to even ask whether our laws on abortion, and the practice of them, ought to be reformed (reformed, that is, in the direction of making it harder to have an abortion)? There seems to be an unwritten rule in politics that the issue must not be discussed, and that anyone holding views which are disapproving of current practice on abortion must be dismissed as an extremist or religious nutter. This is in spite of obvious evidence that abortion as conducted in Britain is completely at odds with the word of the law. Under the 1967 act that legalised abortion, it is clearly stated that it is only supposed to be used in situations where the mother’s physical or mental health is at risk or if the baby were to be born seriously handicapped. Few would even pretend that abortion is being restricted to these cases. It is over 20 years ago now, but the first question my wife’s GP asked her when she said she thought she was pregnant was: do you want the baby? There is little getting away from it: social abortion is routine in Britain, even though it is illegal. The law supposedly preventing it is treated with the same contempt as archaic laws ordering us to do archery practice.

There seems to me to be something desperately wrong here. A Martian looking at us from the outside might well conclude that it is a committee of animals which sets the terms of our political debate. How can it be that we swoon over baby chicks, calves, puppies and the rest, and yet seem blithely indifferent about the industrial-scale destruction of human foetuses?   Source – The Spectator

Comment:

I’ve long marvelled at the intensity of the UK public over animal welfare.  I’ve seen grown women shed tears during a BBC discussion, upset at the killing of foxes – not the most endearing of animals. Yet, the same people fighting for animal rights seem to see nothing untoward about the cruelty of killing a baby in the womb.  Why is that?

Will Ireland  hold out against the evil campaigning of the pro-death camp, those who wish Government approval for the murder of the unborn?  If you’re still not sure about the use of the term “murder” visit this website and check out the terminated “material” …  Don’t duck the reality – look at the images, and then decide if you think once-Catholic Ireland should legalise this death industry.

Disastrous Pontificate Persists – Yet No Sense of Urgency From “Opponents”…

Me? Damaging the Church? No way!

A friend rang me last night to say he’d attended a Summorum Pontificum Traditional Mass and found himself chatting afterwards with a couple who were not husband and wife, but “partners” …   My friend was downhearted, dispirited that even the better priests seem to be willing to tolerate such scandals.

Then this from The American Conservative “The president of the German Bishops’ Conference has declared that, in his view, Catholic priests can conduct blessing ceremonies for homosexual couples.”

The list of scandalous words and actions from this current shocking pope, or tolerated by him, grows day and daily. Too much to list here – and anyway, would, more likely than not, be out of date before I press the “publish” button on this page.

There is no lack of evidence that Pope Francis is a danger to Catholic Faith and Morals.  Quite the reverse – there’s an abundance of evidence. Even as I type this, a report has come in questioning the pope’s integrity – would he blatantly impart falsehoods, we have to ask? Click here to answer that for yourself.

The question is, why are the supposedly concerned bishops who allegedly oppose him remaining silent – such as Cardinal Burke and the Captain and Crew of the Lifeboat SSPX?  Why no sense of urgency? Why have they all gone to ground?

It’s one thing to pick one’s fights, but not to fight at all?  Take a few minutes to view the short video in the News section of the Dici website here.  Who, on this earth, would ever imagine that the Church is suffering the worst crisis ever in its entire history, watching that broadcast?  Lovely reports, sure, but there’s been nothing about any attempt to fight as members of the Church Militant, under our banner as Soldiers of Christ,  in any of the recent videos posted on Dici  in January, which I’ve viewed with surprise and disappointment.  This latest one, linked above, dated 2nd February, is no different. Plenty of devotional content, suggesting the danger of becoming so heavenly minded that we’re no earthly use.

What should the supposed opponents of this dreadful pontificate be doing, in addition to prayer. Concrete action, surely – but what, precisely?
