England: Is Cardinal Nichols “Gay”?

Westminster Cardinal Vincent Nichols celebrated on January 13 in London a Gay Eucharist organized by the club of homosexuals “LGBT Catholics Westminster”.

Cardinal Nichols

Nichols is a repeat offender. Already in May 2015 he presided a Novus Ordo Eucharist for the same group, specifically aimed at homosexuals.

The London Gay Eucharists were initiated in 1999, opposed by Catholics but backed by the anti-Catholic archdiocese.

According to IndCatholicNews.com (January 16), Nichols claimed after Mass that LGBT Catholics Westminster are “an important sign of welcome and inclusion” within his archdiocese as an “identifiable community which is at home within the Church.” In reality, LGBT Catholics Westminster promote homosexual fornication which, according to the Bible cries for vengeance to heaven.

Nichols was always known as heterodox prelate. Nevertheless Benedict XVI appointed him to Westminster, knowing that he would eventually become a Cardinal.  Source

Now, not to mislead –  I, personally, doubt very much if the Cardinal is actively homosexual, although, of course, I don’t know.  I did meet him some years ago, when I could pass muster in the “slim, glamorous, fashionable etc” category and I recall thinking that he was quite a ladies’ man at that time, but, hey, things have moved on and it’s now clear that the crisis in the Church boils down to the dominance of homosexual priests and bishops. Indeed, not so long ago we read this on a thread about the homosexual scandals within the episcopate and in seminaries: “In light of the explosive report by Archbishop Viganò, it becomes even more apparent that the homosexual cabal operating in the Catholic Church exists at the very highest level and even incriminates Pope Francis himself.”   See Priest’s Open Letter To UK Bishops…

So, the very least any priest or bishops should be doing at this stage, as the mounting scandals reveal a truly decadent clergy and complicit episcopate, is to distance themselves from appearing to condone this unnatural behaviour, let alone conducting “services” where “blessings” are bestowed on those engaging in it.  And the desire is unconscionable for the “LGBT Catholics Westminster”  to be an “identifiable community which is at home within the Church,”  indicating that there is no need for repentance, no need to turn away from that gravely sinful behaviour.

Whether or not, then, Cardinal Nichols is “gay”, we are surely entitled to ask the question.  Or, maybe you disagree?  If so, let’s hear a sound theological and biblical justification for the Cardinal’s promotion of homosexuality. Catholic Tradition is rooted in Scripture and the teaching of the Fathers of the Church from the beginning so, here’s the challenge: demonstrate to us, using these primary sources, that the teaching of the Church is wrong, does not reflect God’s natural moral law, and that, therefore, the Cardinal is right (along with all the other LGBT etc prelates) to promote , effectively as a virtue, these “acts of grave depravity” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #2357).

  1. Just to be very clear. I am already on public record with my considered opinion that if someone, priest, teacher, you name it, sees nothing wrong with same-sex activity then it can only be explained, in one of two ways: either as a classic case of (a) a mind and soul darkened by persistent, unrepented personal sin, usually of a sexual nature, OR (b) they are participating in that sin themselves. In which case, (b) is subsumed in (a)

By which, just to be crystal clear, I mean that, one way or another, any priest or prelate who promotes unnatural sexual activity, is, more likely than not, in some way sexually sinfully compromised himself.

  2. Editor,

I agree that there is something seriously wrong with any cleric who pushes LGBT so-called rights, as if anyone has the right to sin.

    • Wise catholic blog is not a nice blog. The blogger is pat buckley, an excommunicated Irish priest. The amount of muck raking and gossip on that blog is a disgrace.
Pat buckley is a self styled bishop based in Larne, Northern Ireland. He has a criminal conviction for conducting sham marriages. That blog should be avoided like the plague . Priests are mocked like the one mentioned in your post.

The priest named and photographed is an Anglican convert who originates from Possilpark in Glasgow. I have met him many times. He is a fine priest who is much respected in the Westminster diocese.

  3. I don’t think the Cardinal is gay – I think he’s just a weak, poorly formed priest and prelate. He was very weak when interviewed about civil partnerships years ago and he is always on the right side of political correctness. This is just another example of it. I’m just waiting to see him photographed with a transgender person!

    • Nicky,

I agree. He’s a really weak person, as he was always sympathetic to the feminist extremists on the National Board of Catholic Women, an agency of the Bishops Conference E & W. They were really radical but he definitely supported them.

  4. A belated Happy New Year Ed . As for this carry on that Homosexuality should be welcomed into The Catholic Church we know the answer . One doesn’t even have to be Religious to see this is a Repugnant Lifestyle and if one endorses it ( Never Mind a Catholic Cardinal ) it’s completely naturally wrong. Where even is the compassion from this Cardinal to say that these people apart from Losing Their Souls are living a lifestyle which Medically proven shortens their lives . As one now Celibate Homosexual said on Life Site News . ” I was told by an older Homosexual Man that the Lifestyle wasn’t worth it . I didn’t know what he meant but I do now “. Unquote. I personally just think that the Alphabet Squad seem to have taken over everything. I also was debating well heatedly with a Homosexual online and he said that most of them in a relationship just hold Hands. For this Cardinal not to preach that this is a Sin that Cries Out to the Heavens for Vengeance is of course for him to at least endorse the Practice of Homosexuality.

  5. No idea about Cardinal Nichols’ sexual proclivities, but I propose a semi-third option: he is being blackmailed by someone with knowledge of his sexual peccadilloes. I say “semi-third” because the possibility of blackmail leads back to Editor’s two original options.

The “Soho” Masses also come to mind from his past. Then there was the consecration of England that wasn’t a consecration. And what, if any, was his relationship with Cdl. O’Brien?

    • RCA Victor,

To be honest, I don’t think he’d bother about being blackmailed as I’ve heard he just shuts people up by threatening legal action.

Re. Cardinal O’Brien, I really don’t think he was actively homosexual like that, I think he just fell into a bad situation through drink with some seminarians. I don’t think he was a full blown homosexual living in that way, stone cold sober.

  6. I cannot ever simply say that homosexuality is sinful. It is not. However, the practice of homosexual actions is sinful and indeed grievously sinful. I am so glad that I am not a Bishop with one of those parishes in my Diocese. I could never tolerate that! I pity any Bishop who has such parishes within his diocese and I would indeed fear for my immortal soul were I such a bishop.
I have known men who were homosexual but also were good, faithful Catholics.

    • John Rayner,

The teaching of the Church is that the tendency (i.e. temptation) to homosexual activity is not a sin, any more than any other temptation is a sin.

Like you, I know men with the homosexual inclination who have remained faithful, or who have returned to living faithful Catholic lives. One of them wrote a letter for publication in our newsletter some years ago, urging us to continue to promote the moral law (short form “Catholic teaching”) on this. They understand that, like every other unmarried person, they have a duty to abstain from sexual activity.

You are right to be concerned for the Bishops – those who, shockingly, are encouraging this sin in seminarians and priests, or turning a blind eye to it, do, indeed, face a terrible judgment.

  7. I have long been concerned about the way Cardinal Nichols supports the LGBT groups in the Archdiocese of Westminster. He actually went out of his way to offer them Masses, known as the Soho gay Masses at the time, it’s not that they were pestering him, so I have a very open mind about his own attitude and tendencies.

  8. I don’t know anyone, in England or Scotland, who is following this Church crisis and who admires Cardinal Nichols. He is one of the “bad guys” as far as the faith goes. I know people who have written to him about the Soho Masses and he just ignores their letters and emails. It’s a waste time bothering about him, IMHO.

    • Crofterlady,

Love all of your recent posts with the joke images. Brilliant.

Maybe, on the other hand, the teachers found it difficult to get him to string a sentence together. As someone who has been on the NON-receiving end of his NON-replies (if you get my drift), I wouldn’t be surprised. He certainly seems to have a policy of just ignoring mail. I’m often tempted myself – in fact, going a stage further, I’m tempted not to even READ incoming mail but … well… it just MIGHT be urgent…
