Hurricanes Divine Judgment on President Trump’s Disbelief in Global Warming?

 Comment:

There’s certainly a school of  belief that God does sometimes express his wrath through natural disasters, and there are biblical verses to quote: “The LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.”  (Isaiah 29:6)

But as a punishment for not believing a scientific theory? C’mon!

As we reflect on the significance – if any – of these terrible hurricanes, let us remember two things; firstly, of course, to pray for the poor people suffering, at this time, and secondly, one thing that has not made (and is unlikely to make) the anti-Trump broadcasting news here in the UK  – that President Trump donated one million dollars of his personal money to the people of Texas and Louisiana.

Over to you – are these hurricanes a punishment for not “believing in” global warming?

  1. I think if God isn’t sending hurricanes on the city of Rome for the havoc the Modernist popes are inflicting on the Church then He will hardly send a hurricane for denying a scientific theory!

Perhaps the hurricanes ARE sent from God as a chastisement for sexual immorality and denial of God! I think that’s much more likely.

    • Spot on, Petrus. God punishes SIN (e.g. denying His existence) which is against HIM, not because someone doesn’t believe in global warming.

    • Petrus,

I agree – a few hurricanes hitting Rome might help waken up the Modernists, LOL!

Today the pope is shown on the news with a black eye and some blood on his white soutane, after he banged his face on the popemobile. That’s the story anyway, but I think the police might want to interview some of the bloggers here, to check on their whereabouts at the time, LOL!

      • Josephine some Hurricanes hitting Italy or even Germany at the moment would probably be Prayers answered by the Natives . By Natives of course I mean the Natives of those countries and not the 100s of Thousands of Muslims. Maybe during the Hurricanes at least the wind would drown out that Devilish Noise of Muslim so called call to prayer. As on the Scientific effect of Natural disasters on the Planet . If Richard Branson and Leonardo Di Caprio say it’s down to Climate Change ,Global Warming,Thermostatically Ujusted Earth Control ( just put the last bit in because bet your bottom Dollar they’ll come up with another saying) Who Am I To Judge . In all seriousness though I think that Fatboy shifting 4 Continents by Hydrogen Bombs exploding is just a little bit more on my radar right now .

  2. This idiocy sums up the way the modern world thinks. On the one hand we invoke Science as having proved the theory of man-made global warning, thereby denying the supernatural, while simultaneously arguing that Nature is some sort of deity punishing our lack of faith in Science.
The problem here is that there are people who fail to give intellectual assent to the Doctrine of Man-made global warning. It does not matter a jot how we live our lives. We can cause as much environmental damage as we like, so long as we don’t deny this all-consuming doctrinal absolute. So, we can drive around as much as we like, we can wear flashy clothes and buy useless junk shipped in from all over the world. We can fly around on holiday. But we must not deny the doctrines of the modern world. If we like, we can assuage our conscience by putting some of our rubbish in the recycling bin (a pointless exercise) or if we really want points, drive an electric car (and just push the carbon emissions and bit further away from us), but that’s not strictly necessary so long as we don’t speak the heresy that climate change might not be caused by humanity.
A few months ago, there was a protest against Donald Trump in Washington DC, when thousands marched through the streets to protest their President’s environmental doctrinal heterodoxy. I remember wondering how many of those people travelled there on foot or even on bicycle.
I have no idea if these climate disasters are caused by humans, or if Almighty God is punishing us. It’s not like we don’t deserve to be punished, and let’s face it, we have been warned. It makes sense to not misuse the resources we have been given stewardship over, but the environmental religion is just a means of denying the true God. And that is something we will be punished for.

  3. Honestly, I think that the phenomenon is cyclical.

I remember that during the occupation of France by the Germans many children used to go down the Montmartre slope on luges during the winter and no one spoke of the “cooling of the planet”; you will tell me that we had other concerns!…

Nowadays, it almost does not snow in Paris during the winter.

When I see that a Fabius presides over this organization on the “global warming of the planet”, I remain particularly skeptical…

For my part, I think that there are big financial interests behind all this agitation…

    • Lionel,

However, I recall that the weather (i.e., God) played a major role in the lead-up to the French Revolution – bitter cold, poor crops, near-famine, drought – and thus contributed to popular unrest. It was as if God was setting the stage for the consequences of the King’s failure to heed St. Margaret Mary Alacoque’s warning.

  4. I get the sense that these ideologue blabbermouths are just waiting in the weeds (one weed in particular: marijuana) to pop up at every opportunity to blame everything on President Trump and his nationalist agenda – which, according to their laughable opinions, are “fascism,” “homophobia and hate,” “xenophobia,” “climate denial,” or pick your inflammatory label, add microphones and cameras, and stir….up the masses to violence.

Meanwhile, it seems obvious, from a Catholic perspective, that we crossed a line on August 21, and the wrath of God is upon us as never before. Corrupt, apostate clergy was not enough punishment; now we are into full-blown justice. “Us” being the USA for the moment, a nation whose leaders have perverted the natural law and enshrined mortal sin, and who are punishing and marginalizing those who protest…or even just disagree publicly. And, whose “Catholic” bishops’ conference has not only sold out to open borders for millions of dollars, but who frequently denounce Pres. Trump’s efforts to close those borders and restore common sense.

I’ll also wager that this winter will see some blizzards of unprecedented magnitude strike the cities of the US Northeast, which also happen to be centers of leftist power: New York, Boston, Washington, Philadelphia.

  5. It’s a punishment for sin. What a shame Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t keep her clothes on more often

after all she has claimed to be bought up in a Jesus household (whatever that’s supposed to mean) her words not mine. May the people suffering through theses calamities be given help from above and may our world stop and do penance for forcing our good God to righteously punish us. As for climate change I’ve never believed in it.

    • Monica,

I completely agree with you that these hurricanes are a punishment for sin. I’m just surprised we are not getting them in the UK as well, although gale force storms are forecast for England this week, I think I’m right in saying.

I’ve never heard of Jennifer Lawrence but she’s obviously a dimwit if she thinks God would punish a nation because its President doesn’t believe in climate change. We should not need to “believe” in science, LOL! We’re supposed to have evidence, and so far, I’m not convinced.

    • The problem with all the climate change claims is that even when it IS based on science, they only have records going back so far and sadly seem to be very unscientific in using these, because they ignore what they don’t know anything much about – like a few millennia of weather. Anecdotal evidence from the ancients to the contrary is immediately binned as unscientific or mythological. Hmmmm – double standards as usual.

  6. I don’t believe in climate change being caused by humans either. It’s one big scam. You just need to look at those hurricanes to know that there is a power behind them, not of this world. Jennifer Lawrence is not right in the head if she thinks Donald Trump can be blamed for this, LOL! I know he’s being blamed for everything else, but surely not the weather, as well!

  7. My take on this hurricane is that it is permitted by God to humble humanity, to remind them that while they seek to deny God and pervert the natural order established by Him they are but tiny grains of sand in comparison to their Creator and His Creation. As usual, however, people never learn the lesson of humility and continue to worsen their state by worshipping the false deity of climate change, as they surely will on this occasion also.

In the Gospel of St. Matthew we read Our Lord speak of the last times of the world when there will be wars, famines and natural disasters. But He adds that these things are just the beginning of travail. What does that indicate? It indicates to me that none of these terrible events of nature can be compared to what will come directly from God should men continue to rebel against Him and His laws.

If and when the judgment of God falls on this world, and I have to say that the recent drive by almost all national governments and media to impose and glorify homosexuality could well be the final straw in addition to abortion, it will fall suddenly and catastrophically across the globe in an instant. There will be no time for people to reflect or change course, the punishment will just arrive and those who survive, a very small number in comparison with the numbers that will perish, will be left in no doubt as to who visited it upon them. There are prophecies referring to such a divine intervention and how those left alive will think themselves alone in the world, such will be the death count.

The Sacred Scriptures record only a few instances in human history when God has directly intervened to punish individual nations and people, or even the entire world for its wilful sins.

The greatest example is the Flood that wiped out the greater part of humanity. Another is Sodom and Gomorrah, two cities specifically renowned for homosexual activity. Nineve, too, was destined for destruction because of the filth that went on amongst its citizens, though it was spared because its people, from the king down, did penance when warned of their impending doom. There are also the examples of Onan, struck down immediately by God for sinning against purity. And then there was King Herod, the first authority in the world to authorise the killing of babies in the womb (the innocents). His death was particularly horrendous. But note that, apart from Herod, all divine interventions have been in response to grave impurity (sexual sins).

How is it possible to witness today a global homosexual crusade led by the world’s governments and media, in God’s face with “Pride” in legislating against the divine law and natural order, and not fear that the wrath of God is about to fall on this planet in an unprecedented way. They have turned away from God and His Commandments, claiming liberation, with full knowledge of what it is they do.

Remember, the pagans of ancient Rome and Greece didn’t know Christ and still their empires came crashing down at that particular moment in their history when the morals of the people became widely corrupt. Moral corruption is always the sign that a society is on the way to disintegration and destruction. History is filled with examples of this.

So what can be said of our Western cultures that have known Christ and now reject Him? How much more wilful and malicious are the sins of such nations before God, and how much more deserving of the divine wrath?

We don’t know exactly how God will respond to the present global rebellion against Him, He is all merciful and compassionate, always desiring the repentance of sinners. The problem is that the world shows no sign of repenting of its sins, or even any longer being ashamed of them. Rather, it seems to declaring with “Pride” the enshrining in law of those sisn in particular that have in the past incurred the divine wrath. It really is very frightening and I believe it will be of very short duration. Hurricane Irma is a walk in the park in comparison with what God can and may unleash on this openly apostate world. I would love to be wrong but they are even corrupting the morals of children now and that is as bad as it gets.

    • Your comments are true and are also very frightening for anyone who can see.
Even Putin recognises this ( I suppose you could compare him to the King of Nineve ( maybe even Jonahs given him a surprise visit) . He will not allow the terrible immoral Pride Parades to take place in Russia as he at least mentally knows all the facts that you have posted . He maybe not the most moral of Leaders himself I do not know but he at least seems to know history.

    • Excellent comment except for this:

*If and* when the judgment of God falls on this world…”

I’d remove the “If and”. The day of judgement may or may not be soon, but it’s coming.

      Margaret 🇺🇸

  8. It’s crazy to think God would send a hurricane or two to punish Donald Trump for not believing in climate change! That’s mad!

I agree with Athanasius about this: “Hurricane Irma is a walk in the park in comparison with what God can and may unleash on this openly apostate world. I would love to be wrong but they are even corrupting the morals of children now and that is as bad as it gets.”

That really IS as bad as it gets. I shudder to think what will happen next. The hurricanes in the States were bad enough, but, could be “a walk in the park” as Athanasius says, if things don’t change in the world soon. God will not be mocked much longer.

  9. Tonight, Sky News announced that Hurricane Maria is set to strike again, and in the same places savaged by Hurricane Irma two weeks ago.

Discussing this with the Chief Executive of one of the Charities, the interviewer expressed his amazement that here, just two weeks on, those same places are to be hit again by 140 mph winds. The Chief Executive agreed, adding that “this is a unique year”.

Say that again… the centenary of the first Fatima apparitions, no less. I thought it would be useful to quote the words of Athanasius who wrote above:

“Remember, the pagans of ancient Rome and Greece didn’t know Christ and still their empires came crashing down at that particular moment in their history when the morals of the people became widely corrupt.”

Food for thought for the alleged Christians who are going along with every attack on the natural moral order, in the name of democracy or freedom of speech or whatever.

As St Paul reminded those “senseless” Galatians – “God will not be mocked.” so let’s pray for a return to sanity of all those who claim to be followers of Christ while bowing to worldliness at every turn.

And let’s pray, too, for all those afflicted by this latest hurricane – a huge trial for everyone in that part of the world.
