    • DominieMary,

I really meant to discuss whether or not it is such a “must read” that we’ll all buy copies! I’ll go into the blog introduction and make that clear. I am presuming everyone will watch the video/listen to the discussion about the book before commenting here.

  1. Editor,

One reason is sufficient to make this book a must buy and that is that the book spells out the very basic truths of the Faith that all Catholic must hold if they want to save their souls. But I also value the book for its upholding the established Catholic principle that obedience to the truths handed down is greater than obedience to religious superiors, even Popes, when they contradict those truths.

Besides all that, I think Fr. Gruner is a saint!

    • I agree – it’s sometimes the most basic truths that people get confused about. I’ve sometimes had to think twice about what is the correct teaching especially if I hear something said in a homily that doesn’t sound right. This sounds like a book that’s worth buying and also buying for family members or at least lending around.

I also agree that Fr Gruner is a saint.

    • Athanasius,

That is exactly right – because the book spells out the very basic truths of the Faith, is enough to make us want to buy it If ever such a book was needed, that time is now. I’ve got young relatives that I’ll be lending it out to.

    • Athanasius,

Those were my own thoughts exactly, plus when John Vennarri held up the book and I saw it was so “slender” to quote him, I was impressed. For me it’s a must-read, if for no other reason than to support the great work being done by Fr Gruner.

    • I couldn’t agree more. I think the obedience issue is a crucial obstacle that Catholics need to get over when deciding to come over to the SSPX. Being able to discern true obedience from false obedience is a turning point.

  2. I HAVE the book…. I think the reason I got it was because I made a donation not long ago. They just sent it to me. But…..I have just begun to read it….haven’t gotten that far in, but yes, I can agree, it does seem to be an easy read. And it does look very interesting, and mainly INFORMATIVE. I think Fr. Gruner is at the very least extremely orthodox, and does know the faith very well. I don’t really see how you could be misled. Is it a MUST HAVE? I will let you know once I’ve read it, but I would say, that even if you know your faith very well, which probably most of us have a pretty good handle on it, you can’t reinforce it enough. Once I’m done with it I would be happy to send it to someone here that doesn’t want to spend the money, that is if it’s worth reading…..I will let you know. Will try to have it read possibly by the weekend, but that’s if our schedule doesn’t get too crazy.

    • TLM,

Please let us know if you think it’s a must-have book. From the video, I’ve already made up my mind that it is, but it would be good to have a review from someone who has read it.

I think Fr Gruner is much more than “extremely orthodox” – he is definitely as sound a priest as you’ll ever meet and a living saint from all I’ve read and heard about him. There used to be a copy of the book about him (Fatima Priest) on the Catholic Truth website, so if it’s still there, you can read it online and it is really excellent. Shows the real Fr Gruner as opposed to the evil picture his enemies paint.

  3. I didn’t know about Fr Gruner’s new book until now. I must watch the video but I am a big Fr Gruner fan so I’m sure I will be buying this book. The title itself is a draw!

  4. “Crucial Truths To Save Your Soul” sounds like a must-read to me. I can’t wait to read it. I always find Fr Gruner inspiring whether it’s the talks he gives or the stuff he writes. I never fail to be inspired.

What I can’t understand is that I read somewhere that Cardinal Bergoglio was also a fan of Fr Gruner so I don’t understand why he is acting in such a hostile way to anyone traditional and why he hasn’t consecrated Russia yet.

    • Lily,

I don’t know of Cardinal Bergoglio was a “fan” of Fr Gruner, I think they either met or corresponded once, but seeing what a liberal this pope is, I can’t imagine him being tolerant of Fr Gruner.

      • Margaret Mary,

Something tells me there was more to the Bergoglio/Gruner relationship than a one off meeting or communication. However, it is a strange one.

    • Lily,

I agree that Father Gruner’s book “Crucial Truths to Save your Soul” is a must read. Like everyone who has posted on this thread I too would like to read it. We can never have too much information to help us.

Whether Cardinal Bergoglio was a fan of Father Gruner or not, I have no idea at all.
Between his election last year and between the present date, has Pope Francis consecrated, or not, his Pontificate to Our Lady of Fatima?

Which adds to your comments, Lily about when as Cardinal Bergoglio your comment of whether he is a fan of Father Gruner. And true Russia has not been consecrated. He does act in a hostile way to anyone traditional.

  5. Thanks for the thumbs-up for Fr Gruner’s book – I have a confession to make: I’ve not had time to view the video myself yet, so I am relying on your reviews. So far, after reading all comments, my instinct is to fork out and buy a copy – just as soon as I get ten minutes to order online. It sounds like a book that would be good to lend out to friends and foes alike, since it’s full of basic teaching, concisely presented and easy to read. That’s my kinda book!
