Garabandal: Diabolical Distraction…

ImageJust as evidence of the truth of Fatima is unfolding daily before our eyes, it seems that  misguided Catholics prefer to spread information about unapproved apparitions.

In recent weeks, I’ve had emails and CDs in the post, exhorting devotion to Garabandal, which is clearly of diabolic and not divine origin.  Click on the photo to find out why Garabandal is not a hoax: something went on there but, given what we know about Satan and the way he works, it’s clearly not something from Heaven.

As the geo-political situation worsens by the day, with Russian involvement in the Ukraine now a cause of major concern around the world, Fr Gruner’s emergency issue of the Fatima Crusader is timely.*  We must be on our guard and take care not to be distracted by Garabandal or any other false apparition site, as we enter this most serious phase of the unfolding of the Fatima Message.

It is disturbing to see so many well-intentioned Catholics being led astray in this way.  Why can’t they see it? Do they really believe, for example, that God would inspire genuine visionaries to walk backwards?  To what purpose?

Why can’t the misguided Catholics who are urging me to promote Garabandal see that it is a diabolical distraction from Fatima? Do they really want to help the devil in his attempts to squash the Fatima Message? Really? Is that what they want?  What then? Before you attempt to answer, don’t forget to click on the photo to read the  indisputable evidence of diabolical activity at Garabandal.

  1. I know a priest who believes in Garabandal but I’ve always been suspicious of it I really don’t know why people believe it when even the children themselves denied later on that the apparitions had happened.

The bottom line for me is that nothing is as important as Fatima. That’s all we need. And what with Russia being accused by Ukraine of declaring war on the Ukraine only today, it’s all the more important that we pay attention to what Our Lady said at Fatima.

May I encourage anyone who hasn’t enrolled in the Brown Scapular to do so now?

  2. I guess this is an aside based on Editor’s introductory reference to Fr. Gruner, but I’d have to say I was very skeptical and disappointed with Fr. Gruner’s so-called “emergency issue,” in which he cited an American-Red Chinese incident from 2001 (!!) in support of his fears of imminent war. I think the current Russian “crisis” can be summed up with this:

“Events have moved rapidly since a three-month crisis in culturally splintered Ukraine — long fought over by Moscow and the West — sparked by pro-Kremlin president Viktor Yanukovych’s decision to spurn a historic pact with the European Union in favour of closer ties with Russia….The former Soviet nation’s new pro-Western Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk also warned that….”

In other words, the Ukraine is being punished for spurning the EU, and their former president has been replaced with a “pro-Western” one (translation: will submit to the EU). Is Russia invading to restore Ukranian hostility to the EU? Stay tuned…at any rate, while a WWIII is definitely a Fatima scenario, I think Father G’s latest issue was quite ill-considered and unfortunate.

    • Great Pretender,

I have a confession to make – although I’ve been told about Fr Gruner’s emergency issue from all sides this past week, I haven’t seen a copy myself. I decided to check it out online for inclusion in this thread, which I’ve been meaning to post for a couple of weeks now (just ask that English friend who helped us out re. Our Lady of Good Success/Freemasonry on another thread – he’s the friend who is something of an expert in private apparitions and who provided me with the link to the Garabandal article and convinced me that those who believe in the apparitions should check the bottom of their gardens for fairies).

Excuses, excuses, but I merely skimmed the “emergency” Crusader this evening before posting this thread and although it did strike me there seemed to be a lot about China, which I wasn’t expecting, I just didn’t have time to read the whole thing properly and since everyone and their granny have been telling me that it is a “must-read” given the developments in the Ukraine, I decided to include it here. Nobody mentioned China. Not once. Not even when I suggested having a cup of tea… (China tea – get it? 😀 )

So, I’m sorry to learn that you think the “emergency issue” is “quite ill considered and unfortunate”.

Does that mean I have to hand back my title: “Prophet of the Prophecies” awarded following my enlightened posting on Freemasonry on the other thread?

You gotta be kidding – right?

      • Ed – don’t worry, you can keep all your titles and tea sets. There are quite a few people who think that China is a far greater threat than Russia, but I can’t claim to have a crystal ball (or a China ball) on that subject. I just thought this latest issue was a little strange: it struck me as grasping at straws, and perhaps a fund-raising grab (he opined cynically). Perhaps other bloggers who have read it would like to weigh in?

        • Great Pretender,

I don’t think Fr Gruner is grasping at straws at all. I’ve read the emergency issue and although he begins with the 2001 event he later on connects this to 2014 and the possibility of another crisis between China and the US. Here’s the extract –

“The Next Crisis – the Senkaku Islands in 2014?

The next flash-point of international tensions between these same two nations is likely to be the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea (both rich in oil and natural gas reserves), where China – in December, 2013 – is now claiming a territory that has been controlled by Japan for most of the past 120 years. Zheng Wang, a Seton Hall Professor of International Diplomacy, believes it to be only a matter of time before this dispute comes to blows, bringing another major crisis to the world-stage.”

As you say yourself, a lot of people think China is a greater threat than Russia, but as Fr Gruner always says, Russia is the instrument chosen by God to bring peace to the world (through the consecration) so the two are somehow connected.

I honestly don’t think Fr Gruner is on a “fund-raising grab” – I don’t remember him mentioning money at all in the emergency issue, but anyway, Fr Gruner’s finances are monitored closely by the Canadian government, so he’s not misusing funds or we’d soon know about it.

On the subject of Garabandal, I’ve never been sure of it but I am now after reading that article. It’s obviously from the devil so I’m glad to be clearer in my mind about that.

          • Josephine,

I just looked up Dr. Zheng Wang, from whom Fr. Gruner apparently derives this portion of his article. “Global Fellow at the Kissinger Institute on China”? = New World Order. “Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars”? = NWO. “National Committee on United States-China Relations (NCUSCR)”? = NWO. Look who’s on the NCUSCR Board: Henry Kissinger (NWO), Madeleine Albright (NWO), Carla Hills (CFR=NWO). Google some of these names for yourself and see what you come up with.

            http://www.shu.edu/academics/profiles/faculty/174901

            http://www.ncuscr.org/who-we-are/board-directors

Now, there could well be a future flash point over the Senkaku Islands, God only knows, but I find it rather strange that Fr. Gruner quotes, as his only source no less, someone with such sinister connections. Perhaps he is thinking that someone with such connections, i.e. with a vested interest in armed conflict to complete the destruction of Christian Civilization, is in the know.

There is also the issue of why someone with such connections is teaching at an allegedly Catholic university, but I digress…

Also, I was not implying that Fr. Gruner was doing anything dishonest about fund-raising. I am merely suspicious that this alarmist, and frankly, questionable issue of The Crusader was designed, in part, to stimulate more contributions.

            • Anyway, I suppose we’d better get back to the topic at hand, before Editor starts rattling our cages!

              • “Anyway, I suppose we’d better get back to the topic at hand, before Editor starts rattling our cages”!

You got that right, Great Pretender!

            • Great Pretender,

I’m already regretting including the link to the Crusader “emergency issue” – looks like the only “emergency” is going to be danger to the reputation of the Fatima Center! In fact, I’ve now added an asterisked footnote to the blog article, in bright red as a symbol of my blood…

I can’t say why Fr Gruner has chosen to quote from Dr. Zheng Wang or why he’s focused on China at this time – seems inexplicable. I can only imagine that others have influenced Fr Gruner, who is a very gentle person, very humble. But I’m also wondering why those around me who have talked with fervour about this “emergency issue” did so. They’d be well advised to run for cover next time we meet 😀

My only purpose in including the link to this emergency issue of the Crusader was to facilitate discussion of the importance of Fatima in the current worsening situation in the world. See how successful that turned out to be? I should have studied the issue carefully before deciding to post but there you have it – I’m a simple gal. I tend, very foolishly as it transpires, to trust the alleged experts.

Never again. Once bitten, twice shy 😀

              • Oh I don’t know that you need to feel sheepish about it Editor, I think the entire world is on a short fuse, just ready to jump at anything that looks like an omen, or an apparition, or even a mere a whiff of some harbinger of good or evil. So I’m guessing there will be more Garabandal’s, more Medjugorje’s, etc. As long as there aren’t any more Pope Francises!

                • Great Pretender,

I’m definitely not one of those whom you describe as jumping at anything that looks like an omen or apparition. I’m decidedly sceptical about such things and have hooked my star to the Fatima & Quito wagons – as for the rest (even approved apparitions) I pay no attention to them beyond a couple of pilgrimages to Lourdes. I must be the only person who ever visited Lourdes who LOVES the “tacky side”, the shops, which everyone warned me about in advance, so I made sure I had plenty of euros to spare!

Any more Pope Francises and we’ll have to find another Archbishop Lefebvre – like, yesterday!

  3. As for Garabandal, I’d say that Catholics who think this is something Divine are looking for the same thing they they are looking for at Medjugorje: truth. One reason so many are looking is that truth has become obscured by relativism and secular humanism in the Church, thanks to corrupt, spineless, homosexual, disoriented and/or satanic cardinals within the Church…starting with the corrupt, spineless, homosexual, disoriented and/or satanic cardinals who elected Bergoglio as their stooge.

  4. An article on True & False Apparitions by Fr Peter Joseph which was first published in Inside the Vatican in March 2005, has been published here and is well worth reading, since there is commentary on Garabandal among other unapproved alleged apparitions:

“…Another example: the alleged apparitions in Garabandal in northern Spain, in which four young girls alleged that the Virgin Mary appeared to them from 1961-1965. The response of successive bishops of the diocese of Santander has been uniformly negative, and the present Bishop Vilaplaua has concurred with this verdict.

Despite this, there are a number of active associations supporting Garabandal.

A simple case of disobedience to lawful authority.”

    • It’s really interesting that it is the actual diabolical activities that convince people that Garabandal is true, such as the walking backwards is explained as them being in ecstasy. What I didn’t know before is that the seers themselves denied later on that there had been visions and that it’s the promoters who are keeping it going.

The article by Fr Peter Joseph is very helpful because it is very detailed about the Church’s teaching on apparitions.

I meant to say that the Fr Joseph article would be good to give out to people who believe in Medjugorje and Garabandal because it is very clear that it is wrong to follow these apparitions without the Church’s approval.

I agree that we don’t need anything more than Fatima now. It is all-important and we ought to pray even harder for the Consecration of Russia with all that is going on in the Crimea.

      • I’m not sure that “all that is going on in the Crimea” right now is as worrying as it is being presented on the TV news here in the UK and probably in the USA as well, with allegations that Russia has “declared war” on the Ukraine. . A friend rang me just now and expressed the view that this may be payback for Russia’s stance against approving homosexuality.

Times like this I wish I were as knowledgeable about politics as I am slim, glamorous, witty etc etc.

        • Ed,

I don’t think anybody needs to be too clued in on politics to see that your friend is way out of line suggesting that the media are making up stories about the crisis in Ukraine to get back at Russia for its anti-gay laws.

What’s your own opinion on this – do you agree with your friend?

          • Gary,

My friend wasn’t suggesting that the media were “making up stories” – possibly exaggerating because of the claim made by the new government of Ukraine that Russia had declared war, and this in light of the fact that Russia has NOT actually declared war. She wonders why the media keep repeating this over and over again. I think she is entitled to her opinion – what about you? I do remember the feeling of shock I felt in the car when the news came on and there was a bald statement that the new government of Ukraine had said that Russia had declared war… Not, that Russia had – in effect – declared war, or some other phrase to indicate that this was not to be taken literally – a wee bit mischievous, one could be forgiven for thinking…

As for “do I agree” (with my friend) – not really. I said when the subject came up that I think the media are merely reporting the objective facts for the most part, the above clanger being the exception. So, no, I don’t think there’s a connection between Russia’s opposition to homosexuality and the media reporting on Russian involvement in the Ukraine. Obviously, I haven’t seen every news report on the subject, even less every news report on every channel, but from what I’ve seen it appears to be objective reporting of what is actually happening, with any commentary supported by graphs showing the geo-political backdrop in Ukraine.

On topic: what is your view about Garabandal? IS it a major distraction from Fatima?

Oh and do you see what is happening in the Ukraine now as part of the unfolding of the Fatima prophecies?

          • Great Pretender,

That link leads to a page saying that this site is undergoing maintenance, try later. I’ve tried a couple of times.

    • That’s a really excellent article by Fr Peter Joseph. I’ve copied the link to circulate to a few Medjugorje followers. I don’t think many people believe in Garabandal. I haven’t heard it mentioned for ages.

      • You’d be surprised Fidelis. There are very active Garabandal centres, especially in the USA, that are always sending out DVD’s, CD’s, literature etc. There was a very active one in Ireland that was forever sending me stuff, trying to ‘convert’ me. I think it is still going. It’s all using up money that could have been spent on promoting the full Fatima message. I believe that it is a diabolical distraction. When you think about it, knowledge of Fatima made great headway in the 1950’s/1960’s – especially in the USA – so why would Our Lady appear in the early 1960’s and set people on another tangent, when Sr Lucia herself said to Fr Fuentes in 1957: “Father, the most Holy Virgin is very sad because no one has paid any attention to Her Message, neither the good nor the bad.” As far as I am aware the message of Garabandal doesn’t mention Fatima, nor the First Five Saturday devotion, nor the Collegial Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

  5. Sister lucia said that..”.Our lady told us many times that Russia would be the method of chastisement,if we didn’t obtain the conversion of that poor nation first”.

I think that with all that is happening in the church and the world at the present time, and the speed of change, that the dread events foretold by the Blessed Virgin at Fatima are unfolding before our eyes! editor, you are quite right about Garabandal,it’s patently false!

It’s also worth noting that this distraction began around the same time as the second Vatican council and also at a time when the world was awaiting the release of the 3rd secret.

    • Tommy,

“editor, you are quite right about Garabandal…”

Thomas! editor is quite right about…. everything 😀

Write that out 100 times and copy the drawing to illustrate your work…

  6. I do think Garabandal is a diabolical distraction, Editor. I hadn’t heard about the Garabandal apparitions for such a long time that I’d forgotten about them! Thank you for posting this thread! That any Catholic would even consider this apparition to be true despite the condemnation of the bishops of the diocese, is very telling. Obedience is merely an option!

I found the article by Fr. Peter Joseph very interesting and most informative. As Margaret Mary remarked, it is really interesting that what is actually known to be diabolical (walking backwards and the exaggerated head posture) is what convinces people that the apparition is true!

I don’t see how we can separate the events unfolding in the Ukraine from the message of Fatima.

I guess we will consecrate, rather, entrust the whole galaxy to Our Lady before Russia is consecrated to Her. Oh well, I’m going in search of some beeswax candles!

    • Jobstears,

I was exactly the same – had just about forgotten about Garabandal when I began to receive literature etc. about it – hence time to clarify the matter via this thread, I thought.

I also agree about the events unfolding in the Ukraine – cannot be separated from the message of Russia.

I wonder what all the folk we have reported – e.g. Fr Doyle (Ireland) and Joanna Bogle (England) – who are on record insisting that Russia has been converted, are thinking now?

  7. Editor,

Those folk who been reported and keep insisting that Russia has been converted. Or, when I said recently that it was time that Pope Francis and Bishops Consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the answer I got that it was not necessary as Russians are flocking to the Orthodox Church. You really couldn’t make it up. But people who say this cannot answer why there is no peace in Russia and subsequently the world.

I too agree that the events in the Ukraine cannot be separated from the message of Russia.

Garabandal I had not thought about in quite some time, but it like Medjugorje is a complete distraction from the Message from Fatima. Satan is fighting too hard to keep souls from gaining all the graces needed for getting to Heaven.

  8. Editor, it will be interesting to see how Joanna Bogle, and Fr. Apostoli (USA) and Fr Doyle explain Russia’s takeover of the Ukraine, if they ever get around to it. Maybe there aren’t enough Orthdox churches in the Ukraine? Or mosques? People aren’t praying enough.

  9. Editor, forgive me, as I am new to this blog and not quite sure of procedures, but wanted to let you know of a sad situation developing in the Fort. Worth diocese, US. The new Bishop, Michael Olson has categorically banned Fisher More College from having the Traditional Latin Mass in their Chapel. This has worldwide repercussions as it. Is a the logical progression of the tyrannical repression of the FFI. Rorate Caeli broke the story yesterday and has the best coverage. My small blog has a bit of it too. I put contact information so that people can contact (politely, of course!) Bishop Olson, but I’m certain that this man will not back down. His actions are a carefully crafted next step extension of this modernist pope’s war on the faith.
Please feel free to alter my post in any way you like. It is not necessary to cite my blog, either but do please get the word out so that all can rally with prayer and penance in this effort.
By the way, have nejoyed following your blog and feel as though already know some of the commenters! 🙂

    • Evenong,

Many thanks for alerting us to this scandal. I’ve read the Rorate Caeli report and it is truly horrendous.

Is there any point in asking if this Bishop, Michael Olsen, has disciplined any dissenters – or is Fort Worth the only Diocese in the world not to have any dissenters?

Diabolical disorientation everywhere – yet still we have numpties distracting us with false or, at least, unapproved apparitions like Garabandal.

I’m delighted you enjoy following our blog – we’re delighted to have you commenting with us. And again, a big thank you for alerting us to this latest scandalous attack on the Traditional Latin Mass. Reminds me of Pope Benedict’s words in Summorum Pontificum: What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful.

      God bless

      • I have read this and it makes me feel impotent and furious. Pope Benedict’s Summorum Pontificum is being totally ignored and rendered useless.

    • Frankier,

Isabella of Spain is really Jobstears. She came up with the wrong name as one or two others have done recently – another one of these inexplicable technical hiccups.

I’ve now changed her back to Jobstears, so you’ll need to Google to find out what the weather in Spain is like today!

    • Great Pretender,

I notice that the priest says he’s unsure if there is a natural or miraculous explanation for the glowing statue – no mention of the possibility of satanic explanation!
